This eatery is below the typical chinatown places that I would recommend. There are so many other places to try.

We ordered the curry chicken, broccoli, white rice and potstickers. You can tell it is a family owned restaurant. The food was great and the service was average. If I am ever back in San Francisco, I will be coming back.

Good food, Apparently lots of China Town locals which means the served food is rather authentic. The interior is kind of anti-fancy.

While in Chinatown today, we picked his spot at random and were intrigued by the stairway leading to this subterranean gem of traditional Chinese cuisine. Down we went into the dim underbelly of the city where we were warmly greeted and seated by a sweet lady. The menus could definitely use a serious wipe down, but we quickly picked the special house platter of appetizers, the egg rolls were the table favorite, but the Chinese pork and fried shrimp were also awesome. The vibe is original and old school , would definitely hit this spot again.

This was excellent. Don't worry about the "atmosphere", the food is authentic and very very good. Skip the upscale places and go where the Chinese people eat. Service was good as well. Highly recommended.

The food there was ok but pork tasted and looked kinda old.. I had salt and pepper pork chops with pork fried rice and the pork was gray.. the service was nice but I think I'll pass on revisiting this

3.5* I ordered shrimp fried rice, good amount of shrimp and they were fresh. They don't have chili oil only chili paste which is more traditional for Vietnamese not Chinese restaurants, I prefer the oil with fried rice, the waitress was super nice. I'll likely come back to try the BBQ pork fried rice

Best beef chow fun! Please order "wet with gravy"! Service in fast and kind. Later in the afternoon the chefs come out and eat the same food.

Stopped by this place on a whim- we were not disappointed! Arrived around 5pm on a Saturday night. The restaurant was nearly empty when we got there but by the time we left it was starting to get busy. We ordered the mapo tofu, chicken fried rice, and pork in spicy garlic sauce. It was all great! The mapo tofu was silky and flavorful. The chicken fried rice was a bit salty but nothing unbearable. Nothing was spicy as indicated but had great flavor. Overall, great experience. You know its legit when the elders of the community are eating there. Will be coming back as our new sf chinatown spot.

Been trying coming here for over fifty years. Chef Hung's signature dish for years had been their braised ox tail with stick bean curd. Sorry but I was so looking forward to this dish, I nearly forgot to get a picture of the dish except for the last bite. The vegetable dish was a stir fried baby bok choy and also a Chinese cauliflower with some wood ear fungus and the other dish was a special dish that needs to be preordered at least a hour ahead because the process of washing the rice immediately prior to cooking is a crucial step in making this clay pot dish, the rice cannot be prewashed because that will give you a mushy consistency in the finished product, the wax duck and Chinese sausage oils is important in the cooking process to making a proper crust in the bottom of the pot. There are so many great restaurants in the San Francisco area, that's why it took me so long to finally visit this restaurant. This is one of many hole in the wall restaurants that I grew up with in San Francisco Chinatown..

Just walked into here in a Sunday afternoon looking for a quick bite. We shared a cha siu fried rice, bok choy, and cha siu wonton soup (this doesn't come with noodles, just soup, wonton, meat, and some veggies) between two of us. Not too bad, but nothing too special. They do speak broken English here, so not too hard to communicate with the staff. Pretty quiet, not too crowded and food came out really fast.
