Best bagel in SF!
Best bagel spot in SF by a long shot. Get there early to beat the line!
Great bagels, friendly, line moves quickly. They're not kidding when they say they sell out within a couple hours of opening. I arrived around an hour after opening and the everything bagels were sold out. I will absolutely return, and I have to wake up earlier next time!
Incredibly slow for no reason. He wasn’t even making sandwiches or slicing bagels, i don’t know what he was doing for 3-5 minutes/person. I was excited to try this place and from the pictures and reviews it looks like it was once more worthwhile but as of spring 2025 just go to laundromat.
This is it, the bagel that inspired me to write my first food review in SF. I’ve been on the hunt for the best bagel - rest assured you can stop by Chicken Dog and leave satisfied that you might’ve just found it. I’ve spent enough time in NY to know that a good bagel can give me goosebumps, and eating this bagel on a park bench in Bernal Heights Park was a spiritual experience. The crispy crust and dense crumb combine into a jaw workout that will remind you what your skull feels like and help you savor each bite for just a bit longer. I downed three bagels without skipping a beat and the horseradish shallot cream cheese was the perfect dip for each bite. I’ll definitely be back soon!
Round shaped bread objects, long lines. Preorder is the way to go.

Simply excellent bagels perfect texture and flavor. We bought lox and cream cheese to make bagel sandwiches at home and everything was fresh and delicious. The bagels freeze well too - just slice them while fresh, put them in an airtight container, and pop them in the toaster when you’re ready to eat!

Really good bagels, not exactly NYC style, they're their own delicious thing. PRO TIP: preorder from his online shop in the week that leads up to skip the line.Highly recommend the trout rillete when he's doing sandwiches. The proprietor is also just a great guy and writes an amusing/heartfelt weekly newsletter about the tribulations of a baker.

Bagels are amazing with just the right crunch! The salt bagel is my favorite, and if you order ahead, you can skip the line!
I’ve recently moved to SF from the east coast and have high expectations for my bagels; thankfully, Chicken Dog meets those expectations. Bagels have a great flavor, texture, and consistency. Lookin forward to making this a typical Saturday stop.
