So yummy and a unique experience here in SF. I've been there twice and both times were delicious and an adventure.

Decent food. Nothing special or outstanding but nothing disappointing either. If you’re in the area and want this type of food then sure. If not, it’s not worth the effort to go here.

Wonderful service and atmosphere. Great value in happy hour, I ordered too much by mistake. Bold flavors

If you want authentic Japanese food, then don't bother with this place. They go out of their way to appear Japanese with the kitchy atmosphere and style, but this is definitely not a Japanese operated establishment.
The ramen noodles were soggy, the broth way too sweet, and the cuts of meat were odd and on the lower quality side.
The skewers I tried were almost all either under seasoned or over salted, and once again, the meat seemed of subpar quality.
Some were a bit undercooked as well. I doubt they're using a binchotan charcoal grill as the flavor was not there.
Almost everything I tried lacked finesse, seemed misguided or rushed, and was just... off. It was missing the quality you expect from an authentic place.
I guess I could justify it if the prices were lower, but at these prices, you're much better off just going to a true Japanese place. I get it that there are Japanese restaurants that serve non-traditional Japanese food, fusion, etc. But that's not what this is. This is slapping feigned Japanese kitch and culture on US Foods, Sysco truck tier ingredients and calling it an Izakaya experience, which is a shame as it exploits the authentic, high quality ones out there.
I really wanted to like Chome, and I hate to be harsh, but I can't recommend this place at all.

Quirky little spot. All the things we ordered were hits! Great place to bring literally your date or your mom

Very fun bustling Japanese restaurant with all kinds of tasty bites. We really enjoyed the happy hour from 5-6. The only downside was the tables are so close together and the music is really loud. Our favorite items were the calamari and the chicken thigh skewers.

Although ambience, innovation, presentation is great, food is only decent. Signature toro dish was innovative but the rice crispy and toro does not fuse well. Frozen sashimi platter was good. Everything else was mediocre except the complimentary potato salad which was actually delicious. Overall, SO not worth the price (we spent 100+ per person on not that much food) and 40+min wait. I am more than happy to splurge on food but this is not it. I do NOT understand the hype. Take it from a Japanese

Doesn't serve people in line in order of arrival. Does not take reservations for less than five. Don't waste your time unless you have a large party and a reservation. Didn't get a table after waiting two hours, despite larger groups arriving later getting tables quicker.
Absolutely charming! So great to see the expansion. Phenomenal food. I’ve been here at least 4 times and have gotten something different every time.

Snarky service. Cut off orders for happy hour 15 mins before it ended. Overall an unfriendly vibe like ‘you should feel lucky to eat here’
Happy hour items were really small portions but good quality. Would not go back.
