I chose to celebrate my birthday at Chouquet, and I'm so glad I did. Upon arrival, we were greeted with Kir Royales before being seated—a very nice way to start the evening. Throughout the meal, the service was excellent. We had the tuna tartare and escargot for starters; both were perfect. For mains, we had the salmon and the beef bourguignon—both were cooked to perfection and absolutely delicious. One of the most pleasing moments was the complimentary dessert, which was brilliant, along with the lovely, understated singing of "Happy Birthday," followed by them switching the music to Stevie Wonder's version of the song. It couldn't have been a better evening.
One of my favorite places . The staff are great, the food is very reliable and the atmosphere can't be beat
I love this restaurant. we were there on a weekday for lunch and it was busy in a fun way. The staff was professional and nice.
Had dinner last night as a party of three. Ordered the Coq au Vain (Thursday special), Salmon, and Beef Bourgoin. All three dishes were excellent. Highly recommend this local gem for a night with friends, would also be a fantastic place to take a date. Will be back soon.
My eggs Benedict arrived cold, but tasted ok. My dining partner's salad (with a $7 chicken add on) was reported as "excellent". The "spicy (almost undrinkable)" so called Bloody Mary ($13) had low alcohol "vodka" with absolutely no kick. My dining partner was celebrating a birthday. A dessert arrived without being ordered, with a single candle...both of us do not eat sugar. To my surprise, I was charged for the dessert! WTF?🤦 Lunch for two, with one adult beverage, and 20% tip...$85 🤷
Charming French cafe Service was slow - seems to be understaffed They were very nice though
Always our favorite lunch spot in SF. We had the trout salad and the butter lettuce salad, both were perfect. The dressings they use are light, fresh and paired with each salad perfectly. Outdoor French bistro dining at its best.
The warmest welcome, delicious brunch, some gentle live jazz, excellent service and lots of outdoor space - what's not to like!
Lovely place, I have been before. Friendly staff and there was a surprise blues performance at Saturday brunch.
It was a surprise birthday lunch for a good friend. 11 guests total. Orders varied - Croque Monsieur, burgers, omelette, eggs benedict, trout salad, lentils. After our meal, I saw all plates were clean! All guests enjoyed their meal. Our server, Roy, was very efficient and thoroughly knowledgeable and attentive. Served coffee and a creme brulee for celebrant on the house. It was noisy, but I can't fault the restaurant for it. Will definitely be back.

I'm only giving it 4 stars because I ordered the croque monsieur which, I discovered, is not the dish that showcases their kitchens ability. It wasn't bad but it wasn't as good as other dishes I've had there. The crème brûlée I had afterwards was good and so was the service. I'll definitely go again but just order differently as I know from experience that they have lots of great options to choose from (at least dashed on what I like)
we have been to Chouquets many many times and this is the first time i have been truly disappointed. We made a reservation and showed up on time and waited ONE HOUR for the table. We were told we would have an appetizer and 3 glasses of wine and DID NOT GET ANYTHING ... My one daughter got a good pour of wine and LOTS of apologies but nothing. I was with my daughters and gave an appropriate tip of 20% but i WOULD NOT have if it was not a neighborhood restaurant. YOU do not tell clients you are giving them something and then give them NOTHING, and an HOUR is a long time to wait. I will not go back on a weekend to give them our business...
I have been dining at Chouquet's for years. We are VERY disappointed with the loud, intrusive music in the restaurant.
Everything solid about this place. No, you will not be blown away by the food or atmosphere but this is a first rate neighborhood bistro. The service IS superb as personified by our waiter Stephan. Charming and knowledgeable.
Always a pleasure to eat at this neighborhood treat. Service is warm and welcoming and the food is delicious.
