A hardy chowder, indeed, however, chowder to bread ratio left me wanting a refill.
You can enjoy a regular clam chowder and fish and chips here at a reasonable price.
The chowder is good, but you can find better ones at other restaurants in Pier 39.
The view is nice, though you should expect a few birds to join you while you eat, the staff do their best to chase them away whenever they get inside the restaurant.

Took the crab and shrimp cocktails. They’re served cold and without much flavour. Their “cocktail sauce” is ketchup with black pepper. Ok for a quick bite

Got the fish & chips. Fish was not fresh and fries were extremely soggy. Don’t waste your money. Had to throw it away.
We ordered their crab and shrimp cocktail. Both were sub par for the money.... crab was just shredded mush. Also ordered a couple of seafood sandwiches. They looked good but had absolutely no taste. Very disappointing for being in such a nice location. Staff was nice and service was fast.....

Love loveeeee their clam chowder in the sourdough breadbowl. It is self order at counter and free seating indoor/outdoor. Generous portions of clams, bacon in the soup. Was so good I went back for 2 days and even ate the bowl. There are other stuff on the menu too, sandwich and what not. But I went specifically for the chowder and it did not disappoint. But bear in mind theres lots of pigeons outside waiting to take scraps off the floor, and they poop around randomly

Chowders in San Francisco serves delicious food, the clam chowder was flavorful and comforting. However, the portion size in the bread bowls was quite small for the price. $67 for three bread bowls felt a bit steep given how little soup each one had. Great taste, just wish the portions matched the cost.

If your looking just for chowder snd quick service i do recommend this place. Good chowder and bread bowls. I feel like we would come here more if they had at least a full bar.

Nice spot for a quick bite. Two fish and chips came to about $40. The music was a bit loud and the place is quite small inside.

Such a yummy place to eat. I come here whenever I come to Pier 39. I always get the clam chowder with the bread bowl. It's filling and savory and not fishy at all. Highly recommend if you want an authentic bread bowl experience.

The clam chowder taste more like your grandma’s potato soup. While it wasn’t bad it’s also not claim chowder. Not much of a claim flavor.
