I had the most Amazing experience from the moment I walked through the door. The hostess/manager took the time to make recommendations and checked in throughout my meal. This attention to detail was above and beyond. I am grateful for her making this experience so amazing. She is a Gem.

Disappointing service. We had to wait a long time whenever we requested a service. Especially when we asked for the Sommelier. Shocked that it is a Michelin 2 star. Food was average for an Indian. The atmosphere was very good. However, much overrated. The service was poor for a top restaurant.

Great food, somewhat lacking service. They somehow missed delivering 2 of the 7 items we ordered, and we needed to chase both oversights down.

The food and service were both good, but the noise level was overwhelming - like dining inside a cathedral during a rock concert loud. The high ceilings and poor acoustics made it impossible to have a conversation without yelling. By the end of our meal, all of us sat silently in our car for several minutes - not talking, not even starting the engine - just trying to hear our own thoughts again. It was that loud. Sadly, even though the food was good, we wouldn’t return during peak hours unless the sound issue is addressed. That was just painful.

Copra is a standout — refined yet soulful cooking in a stunning space. The lamb was tender and richly spiced, the mackerel smoky and complex, the spicy shrimp vibrant with heat, and the scallops delicate yet deeply flavorful. The chutneys added bright, addictive notes to everything. Service was warm and attentive, the lighting flattering, noise levels low, and the room itself is beautiful with soaring ceilings and lush greenery. Highly recommend trying Copra for some amazing Indian flavors!

Portion sizes are quite generous. Appetizers easily sized for 2. Entrees could be shared with 3.

Tender Jack-65, black pepper chicken were as good as it gets to start with.
Masala dosa fantastic! Though the coconut chutney with it felt like frozen coconut puree, the only item that didn’t meet the mark, Sambhar delicious.
The chicken kori gassi curry and lamb shoulder chettwere so balanced, consistent and delicious. The lamb could have been just a bit more tender.
Great service, great atmosphere..

I've been wanting to go to Copra since it opened in my hood, but as a last minute kind of diner I've not been able to get a reservation. Finally went for my birthday. First rate experience all around. We started with the chutney palette (four unique & delicious chutneys & selection of papadam & other chips). And we had the fried chicken small plate--crispy, juicy, spicy, perfect. For our mains we had the masala dosa & slow cooked beef, both also excellent. The masala dosa came with three more chutneys (!!) and a solid sambar. The slow cooked beef was a tiny bit chewy but flavor was out of this world, as was the bread and akbar that came with it. And they brought a scoop of refreshing peach sorbet with a birthday candle at the end!

Service friendly and paced well; attractive space if slightly loud due to high ceilings. Excellent birthday meal! Highly recommend!

After all the hype we've been fed around this place, the experience was meh at best.
The kosambari wrap was good. Rasam puri was good as well. But it quickly went downhill from there. The fava curry was bad. Really bad. Dosas were burnt.
Service was terrible. Our waiter missed a dish we ordered, served a dish to the wrong table - 3 times :) and was not prompt at all.
The ambiance and the indoor setting was good though.

If you are looking for a fine dining experience with great food and service, look elsewhere.

Finally got to see what the hype was. We ordered 4 dishes and each one of them was excellent. The decor, the service, the food was all top notch. The chaat and the Kotthu paratha were picks of the day. I’ll definitely be back to try other items on their menu.

I have come here multiple times. Almost every month the food is really good. The front of house Emily. Rude, disrespectful, and snarky. Needs to be fired.

Copra has been a fave of mine, but my latest meal was a sub-par experience. The wine list, while impressively extensive, is formatted in a very tedious fashion, and wine service wasn’t as polished as it should have been. (Had to ask—and wait for—a wine list. Had to ask—and wait for—the somm. And the wine didn’t arrive until after the first course was served.) Food service, too, had its unfortunate glitches, while the food itself fell short on four of the six dishes we ordered, including very disappointing overcooked charred scallops. Even my favorite dessert— “Gods Own Coconut Variation”—fell short this time.

This was not the Copra I’ve come to know. This was, in its totality, a pretty big disappointment, hence the two stars for the overall rating. Had it been my first time, I don’t think I’d be returning. Will I? Not sure.

I had dinner at Copra’s sister restaurant—Ettan—in Palo Alto a few weeks ago. It was my second time there. The first time was very good. The second time was even better.

We usually love indian restaurant and this one was no different. The flavours were incredible and the experience was quite different than our more traditional Indian restaurant. Overall, we would recommend the Copra without hesitation.

This is easily the best Indian restaurant in SF and maybe on the west coast. Whenever I have guests in town, this is the place I take them and folks are always impressed.
