Made birthday reservations online only to get to the location and find they moved, there was a guy literally putting up a sign as I arrived. Drove all the way to the other location to be told they would NOT honor my online reservation. They were not understanding, apologetic, nor accommodating.

Food: best dish was salt and pepper calamari, but it should have been more crispy. Flavors were dull on kohlrabi Caesar salad and the signature whole Dungeness crab. Crab sat in pool of oil, and it didn’t taste fresh. Everything was expensive for the mediocre quality. But they have a very nice and reasonable wine list. They did not serve the wine we ordered but we enjoyed the gruner veltliner they brought by mistake. Windows were dirty. It’s a lively enough place where you can also have a conversation.

Visited this place about a month ago while in Oakland. Went to San Fran because the person I visited raved about it. Awesome service the noodles were one of a kind and the crab was delicious!!!

The obeisance is no longer there meaning the lighting, chef outfits that all waiters and waitresses worn 25 years ago. No candles or flowers on the table. Now gratuity is included for two and not a large party. The cost was steep for two garlic crabs, two orders of noodles, one shared salad, one order of tiger prawns with noodles and two Cadillac Margaritas totaled $450.00; not to mention the elevator did not work and my disabled husband had to climb two flights of stairs. Five besties including myself would all have dinner, and our total would be $500+, each having crab, noodles and drinks. We drove from the Bay Area through heavy traffic, and we were on time. But will I go again, probably not. The food was tasty, but not worth $450.00.

It closes early, so we recommend making reservations early. This is a store with a mysterious charm that makes me come back every time I come to San Francisco. I feel like it has a taste that suits Japanese people. My hands get sticky every time😁

This place is no longer a hidden gem. To get to the restaurant is strange and awkward for a restaurant that charges $100 per person and more. Once we arrived, we were seated and the table was not cleaned properly. We asked one of the servers to make sure the garlic noodles were fresh as we read in one of the previous reviews that they were soggy. Immediately after we sat down, we were served the roasted crab and garlic noodes. Sure enough, the noodles were soggy and sticking together, but the crab was good. When we mentioned this to the waitress about the noodles, she did not seem to care. Plus we were charged extra for cracking the crab which was not brought to our attention beforehand. Will not be going back here. They just are quick to charge your credit card.

During my recent trip to San Francisco, my friends and I dined at the Crustacean Restaurant, experiencing what I consider to be the finest seafood meal of my life. I would give it a six-star rating out of five. The service was exceptional, characterized by prompt attention, friendly smiles, and unobtrusive professionalism. The food was is absolutly incredible and the manager exhibited consummate professionalism.

The food was average at best...overpriced, service subpar. Crab were decently sized (still well seasoned), noodles were cold, cheesey crab puffs had the consistency and taste of a grocery store product. The Restaurant physically has not been maintained the elevator was out upon my arrival. I was excited when I booked the reservation as I recalled past visits. I was disappointed. Also, pay attention to your bill. Like a lot of SF and East Bay restaurants they slide some sort of service fee / or employee xyz fee.

Wheelchair accessibility: Call ahead and make sure elevator is working.

It was just ok. My sisters and I went here out of nostalgia and the experience was not what I remembered. It was run down and their sea bass was actually terrible. The crab and eggplant were good. Everything else was unmemorable. This place needs a major upgrade. Even the bathroom looked bad.

Visited this location on a Sunday evening. I had reservation but arrived early and was immediately seated.. they do not have parking but they gave me parking info when they called to verify my reservation. My fiancé and I were celebrating a recent engagement and this was an intimate setting. I order one cocktail drink and the roast crab with seafood rice and he ordered the prawns and garlic noodles. We had jumbo prawn wonton for appetizer. Our total bill was around $219 tip included. Gratuity is already factored into the bill. I love this place and plan to revisit whenever I come back

This is an annual tradition and treat for my family! The crabs are well prepared (I recommend the Tamarind crab). The garlic noodles are a great side as well.

🦀The crab was definitely delicious.
Because I used a lot of putter and garlic, my stomach felt heavy until the next day😂(Maybe it's because of my age!?)
One bowl of crab costs $80, and we ate two bowls between the two of us, so it was a pretty expensive dinner, but it was a fun hitotoki♪♪♪
