The s’more, made with marshmallows roasted over a burner, has just the right amount of bitterness and sweetness and is very delicious.
While waiting for the ferry, we walked around the market and saw Dandelion. I never heard of them before but my bf told me their chocolate is really great. That's coming a lot from someone who's not into chocolate.
I got 2 bars, pretty pricey for $11 each but I love dark chocolate so I got 2 different bars based on notes that I love with one 70% and another 100% dark.
They offer drinks and I got the house hot chocolate with marshmallow. It was good! It's not the bittersweet or sweet kind of hot chocolate you taste. It's more satisfying to drink the more you sip.
Would I recommend this? Absolutely Yes! Even for the price, I would say it is worth to try at least once on your visit.
My brother sent me the gold leaf fig dark chocolate dipped for Christmas. They were the best I’ve ever had.
Mission hot chocolate was fantastic.

We had the European Drinking Chocolate, and boy it's rich! And delicious. Thankfully, it's served in small cups or otherwise a food coma is all but assured. We also got tiny shortbread cookies and marshmallows with our hot chocolate, which was a lovely touch. The chocolate itself is very rich, not too sweet, and quite flavorful, with a slightly acidic taste. It's certainly an experience!

Amazing hot chocolate on a cold day, cute little cookie given with it too
Best in West Coast. Got their hot chocolate mix and yeah drinking it makes life feel lighter and its aroma is like music!

Dandelion outlet conveniently located in the Ferry Building. I think they have all the same stuff as the Mission location. Super busy on weekends, but the staff were unfailingly friendly and helpful. Hot chocolate and canele were consistent in quality with the other branches.
Kid-friendliness: They can make their drinks less hot for kids

Really good rich mocha. Would only get the small I think a large would be too much. Definitely worth a try though.

This one’s kinda my fault for getting a cold brew at a chocolate shop, but i wanted to try and beat lines at Blue Bottle and mainly wanted the caffeine. I knew I made a mistake when I saw them pour it from a container in the fridge that said “Ferry building cold brew, expires [3 weeks later date].” It’s the most awful sour coldbrew I’ve ever, ever tasted. I was inclined to upgrade from 1 to 2 stars because I was still able to get it down (and keep it down), but decided to upgrade from 2 to 3 stars because it’s really my fault for trying to order cold brew here when their hot drinks seemed inspired and artistic. They should just take the cold brew off their menu, I guarantee nobody in the process from making it to serving it has ever tasted it.

I admit I've never been a huge fan of their chocolate, but I do like their coffee drinks and some of their other stuff. Also, I think they are unionized, which makes me much happier to support them rather than Blue Bottle nearby, which is owned by Nestle.
The mocha is quite nice, better value than Blue Bottle, I just wish they didn't charge extra for plant-based milk. It seems a bit excessive when you're not getting the cookie and marshmallow that they include in non-vegan drinks.
They have a chocolate and hazelnut (nutella-like) spread, which while very expensive, is based on actual hazelnuts rather than palm oil, and is vegan to boot. I highly recommend it.
I also appreciate that they now have a vegan option in their pastry case, a beautifully presented chocolate carrot cake that is quite affordable (it was $6, they recently increased it to $6.50). Unfortunately I feel like the candied fruit inside overpowers the other flavors, so I wish they would continue on their roll and offer an additional vegan option.
I have recently returned home ( Australia ) after travelling 11000 exquisite kilometers throughout 9 states of the USA and 2 provinces of Canada. Without exception, Dandelion Chocolate provided the best ( 1st class ) espresso coffee I had during my 2 month trip. Beautiful service in a great location ( The Ferry Building ). If you love your coffee make a bee line for absolute satisfaction !!!!!

Excellent hot chocolate. Not too sweet. The Mocha is fantastic!
I got the canelé, s'more, and frozen hot chocolate. I only have praise for the store ambiance and employees. The workers are super friendly and happy to give recommendations. The storefront is clean, inviting, and provides chocolate samples.
However, I've been wanting to try Dandelion's for several years now due to hearing friends rave about it as a "must visit." So I had high expectations coming in and was eager and excited because I love chocolate and sweets. The flavor of the pastries was definitely not what I expected. The canelé has a hard outer shell with a dense, strong, slightly bitter cacao taste. There wasn't much sweetness. On the other hand, the s'more was beautifully presented, but when it came to the flavor profile, I found the taste of salty chocolate core on the burnt marshmallow bed to conflict with each other. The Graham cracker base was soft and didn't hold together well, but I think it was the best part of the s'more. I would describe the flavor experience as strange and thought-provoking...
This was definitely a one-and-done experience for me. I loved the presentation of the food and drinks, but when it came to flavor, do expect a pure, earthy, organic cacao taste with minimal sweetness.

I stop in here fairly often when I take the ferry to the city. Most often I buy chocolate nibs to sprinkle on my yogurt and berries for breakfast. More recently I bought a spiced hot chocolate. Beautiful presentation, loved the cookie on the side. Definitely a delicious, rich treat on a cold day.
