Very possibly my favorite restaurant in San Francisco! Rich, delicious menu without feeling heavy. Inventive and tasty cocktails. Nice ambiance without feeling stuffy. I could eat here again and again. Love the peach appetizer and curry.

This place was so good. We wanted indian food and this place was perfect. It was super busy because it was pride, or it is just normally busy. But the drinks were good and the food was amazing.

I went here last week to celebrate a friend's birthday and didn't have extremely high expectations. I came on a Saturday night near closing time, so it wasn't too busy. The staff was nice enough to let us in at 9:15. We made a reservation but we didn't really need to. I was honestly very pleasantly surprised. Now for the food-- (5/5) Dosa Mysore: It was only $12 (for SF food pricing, that's pretty good). It came out pretty fast, the texture of the dosa was delicious, the lentil/potato filling was just right. All of the sauces were great!! Highly recommend this dish. I'm 6'4, was pretty hungry, and it filled me up. (5/5) Dessert: They also gave us this complementary dessert since it was my friend's birthday. IT WAS AMAZING. See the picture below and ask the waiter what to order, I don't remember the name. It had a cream filling, and they instructed us to pour the strawberry syrup on top. One of the best desserts I've ever had. I hear their cocktails and wine selection is also great, feel free to check that out! I'll definitely be coming back. Check out Dosa on Valencia!

We were a group of 5 and decided to go family style. We went for vada pav sliders, tawa paneer and peaches and avocado toast as starters. Followed it with paper dosa, habanero and mango dosa(nice spice) and moons uttapams. For desserts we opted for the pani puri kheer and passion fruit. Each dish was extremely well made with very balanced spices and very well presented. Amazing service and ambience.

Visited here most recently when my folks were visiting from the east coast. Excellent variety and creativity on their cocktail menu. Got a mule type drink that was delicious. For dinner we did family style and ordered a few dosas and curry. Got a paper dosa, my favorite. Wowed the family with great service. Staff was very sweet and patient to one of my parents who is no longer able to speak and made everyone feel comfortable. I accidentally spilled my drink right in my lap when I spun around in my seat, but they helped me clean myself up. Oops. Thanks y'all. We will be back.

The lamb was fall off the bone amazing. The sauce was flavorful, the rice was good. I had a nice booth; dim lighting, but the kind that makes your date look better than 3 beers will. I was confused as to why the bartender was looking for Apple juice to make an appletini with, though...

I think the saving grace of this particular review is the fact that the quality of the dosa itself was good. Otherwise, I was worried that this place might be that over hyped Dosa place in SF. It turned out to be the case. We ordered the Vada Pav sliders, Idly Sambar, Chole Bhatura, and 3 different dosas: Mysore Masala, Paper Masala, and Habanero Mango Masala. The Vada Pav sliders were decent, the potato was spiced nicely in the middle, but two pieces were fairly small. The Idly Sambar was disappointing. The idlies were so small, and they were soooo dense. Apart from that, the sambar was not true authentic sambar. It was a lot more sour than actual authentic sambar. The fact that they put whole vegetables in the sambar meant that this isn't sambar meant to eat with idly or dosa, it is meant to eat with rice. I have to say that the dosas and chutney were good quality and tasted nice. The dosas were just the right crisp on the edges and softened as it got closer to the nicely spiced potatoes in the middle. The curry for the Chole Bhatura was unique, made it almost like a pico de gallo salsa with curry but tasted good, a tad bit sour as well, but the pooris were so thin and crispy that they fell apart as soon as we tried to tear some pieces. I was not impressed by that quality either. I was told that Dosa on Fillmore was a lot better than Dosa on Valencia, so maybe that restaurant might have better food. I just assumed that since they are the same establishment the quality of the food will not be thaaat different. For me, I like to rank my South Indian food based on the taste and quality of the sambar, which was lacking here. I hope this feedback can be taken for this location to improve the quality and taste of the dishes to make it more authentic.

I've been eating at DOSA for many years and the food has been consistent and delicious. The service has consistently declined. The space has become dim and the tables have become too dense. It feels too crowded as the tables become closer and closer and there's no space for the servers to walk and the tiny tables cab barely hold the plates. The original vision of a luxurious and tasteful experience seems to have been lost, maybe its a new management, but DOSA is no longer a place I enjoy going to even though i love the food and signature cocktails.

Indian food is supposed to be spicy. It's pretty good.

Dosa(both Valencia and Filmore) is such a gem of a place! Both locations are cute and cozy and DELICIOUS!!! There are very few Indian restaurants that check all the three boxes of-great authentic tasting food, great service, and great ambiance and I feel DOSA is one of the few places that wins that trifecta. I usually go with the OG route by getting the classic masala dosa but my friends who have tried other things on the menu were also mostly pleased. I switched it up last time and got Mysore masala and was pleasantly surprised 😊

Wow! First thing that stood out to me was how friendly their staff was. My friend and I were greeted at the door and shown to a table, where we were met with great table service. Complementary lentil chips are served at each table, and they have such an interesting texture and taste! The restaurant has a dim & cozy aesthetic, and it is also very clean and spacious. Their restroom is also very clean, with paper towels and soap. Their menu has a wide variety of starters, curries, dosas, and drinks! My friend and I enjoyed the paper masala dosa and the chicken curry very much! Between two people, the amount of food was still too much for us (they have really large serving sizes)! I'd say the price is pretty reasonable for a dosa establishment in SF on Valencia. I'll definitely have to come back to try the other items on their menu!

We wandered upon this place around 8:00pm after our omakase dinner left some of our group members still hungry. It looked packed so we decided to give this place a try. It was very dim lighting inside. We ordered masala dosa and chicken curry. Both were delicious and had some heat to it. Dosa was crispy and had potato inside too. Our waitress recommended a white blend called Azienad Agricola Cavalchina Custoza Blend and it wasn't that good. I asked waitress which white wine is similar to Sauvignon blanc. Service was quick.

Empty restaurant and they tried to tell us we'd have to sit at the bar. Food took forever. Service was poor. I was shocked as I've been to ever other dosa with much better service.
