One of the best dumplings I've tried! The line on weekends lunch wasn't too bad, it was about 30min ish. Everything was just on point! I was shocked to see the XLB to be see through but yet it wouldn't break. My favorite was the mala spicy XLB, the soup was delicious with just a little bit of a kick of the numbing spicy flavor! The spicy red chili dumpling was filled with the nutty flavor of peanut with just a dap of chili oil for the fragrance. Hands down one of the best dumpling places that I wouldn't mind waiting in line for~

True to its name, the dumplings did not disappoint. I've never had fried soup dumplings and have to admit I was a bit skeptical going in but I'm hooked! Don't get me wrong, I still love the steamed version but the steamed then fried version was just next level. The green beans and the cucumber salad are a must but don't recommend the green onion pancakes or the chicken wings. Service was great and the ambience was quaint. There was indoor and outdoor seating options.

really great for a quick, no frills dinner. their pan fried pork baos are amazing. xlb isn't the best i've ever had but they're juicy and pretty good. hot and sour soup has a lot of flavor! solid place for dinner

The food is amazing. I can eat this all day, everyday. The service is fine. The atmosphere unimportant - it’s clean and that’s all that matters. Better than Din Tai Fung.Place opens at 11:30 - we got there at 11:10 and were #3 in line. They won’t seat you if your party isn’t all there so make sure everyone is there when the door opens or you will wait.

Dumplings to your heart’s content. Good Xiao Long Bao soup dumplings. Really loved the Garlic Okra and Sesame chili oil dumplings. Seaweed egg flower soup was tasty. Could use attentive water refills (or just water on the table) when eating chili oil and dumplings with “numb spicy” in the name. Odd hours, and you will be left eating at the outdoor table when they clean up and practically close while you have full plates still on your table.

We had the vegetarian dumplings, ginger onion noodles, and the potato salad. The dumplings and noodles were fantastic but the potato salad had an overpowering spiced flavor that we did not like.

Overall, thought this restaurant was passable. The juicy pork bao was pretty good, very rich, but I thought it was a little undercooked. I expected the numb and spicy XLB to be spicy, but it only had a very little hint of spice, so that was pretty disappointing. Did not have to wait for a weekday lunch, which was nice.

Pretty good! Got there right at opening and waited for about 15 mins. Great service! I liked the veggie pan fried bao but everything was kinda subtle in terms of flavor. Even the chili sauce wasn't very spicy. Also the restroom was not good!!

First timer at Dumpling Home! This place is sooo busy, but good thing you can put your name down and walk around the neighborhood. The service is quick and efficient. They are doing their best :). As for food quality, I enjoyed the dishes that we ordered. However, I do feel like they are on the sweeter side. We ordered dry sticky wings, pan fried pork/beef dumplings, boiled chicken dumplings, shrimp dumplings, and numbing xiao long bao (which was not spicy at all lol). I would come back here again just for the pan-fried dumplings. However if I have to wait, I would go to other places that better suit my palette. I would still recommend coming here!!

Solid bao/soup dumpling institution in SF. They're known for their juicy pork bao, which is a reinvention of the classic 生煎包. It lives up to the name -- crispy on the bottom, very juicy on the inside. Other good dishes here include the red chili oil wontons, the pig ear side, green beans, and the combo crab/pork soup dumplings. The boiled dumplings and noodles are pretty mid though - would skip unless dining with friends that have dietary restrictions on pork. Beware: this location has the most awful waits (recommend going to the Pac Heights ones for a better time).

Really not the best. I was really excited but it was, dare I say, boring. My instant ramen is better than these noodles.

- pan fried juicy pork bao - fresh cucumber w garlic sauce - ginger and green onion noodles - pork xiao long bao - dry fried green beans Beware of GIANT bursts of soup on the inside

Food is 10/10 every time. Service may be inconsistent depending on how busy the restaurant is or if it's a weekend vs a weekday. Overall great solid pick if I want consistent quality XLB, beef noodle soup and can't skip on their unique take of pan fried dumplings (like they actually deep fried the bottom) One plus about this place is that they have different protein options for dumplings (beef/pork/chicken). I personally can't eat that much pork so it's nice to still have the dumpling experience with friends and family when I dine here :)

While the food here was solid and comparable to other dumpling places I've been to, I found it to be not nearly as good of a value with rather steep prices for what they offer. I came with a friend and we each got an order of dumplings (I got the juicy pork buns, or shengjianbao) and split an order of green beans and a pot of tea. Again, all quite good like the way I've had them at other Chinese restaurants - the buns were crispy and juicy, the green beans were tender and blistered - but at over $30 per person it was on the high end of a casual meal for me with each item being a good deal more expensive than I've had elsewhere (the tea even came at a charge per person when it is complimentary at most traditional Chinese restaurants). And I was visiting from NYC which is famously expensive so it isn't just a cost of living difference. Dumpling Home definitely goes for a more contemporary and polished vibe (I must say I liked their outdoor seating setup) and is located out of Chinatown which may explain the price difference, but I think I am personally more fond of the homier and more affordable Chinatown places and those who are very familiar with Chinese food may feel the same.
