Wonderful neighborhood spot. The food is always well prepared and the service super friendly. Fun wine list at such reasonable prices too!
Highly recommend trying the grape leaves

What an excellent Mediterranean restaurant. The sample platter is a perfect all in one thing to get for two people. I left feeling very full and nourished!
Came here in a group of 3 — we shared the Muhammara, börek, and fries, then got our individual plates. 10/10
3.5/5
The mezze platter has good variety and serving size. V Instagram friendly lol. Falafel was okay, not the best I've had. Hummus and baba ganush were flavorful but could be more hearty and punchy.
The eggplant main entree (Musaka) was pretty mediocre. Soup was decent.
Overall 3.5/5 but rounded down since it is a little expensive for the quality of food imo.
We came in for dinner on SB Sunday... The restaurant is located on Polk Street and parking can be difficult at any time of the day or night. We got in, and found that we were the only patrons in the place. We figured everyone else was still watching the game/post game etc...
The interior is really nice and our server was great. What turned us off though was that the staff was talking and joking the entire time we were there. Not about us, but just that regular chatter and kidding around. But, they were really loud and annoying.
The menu is good and has a nice variety of items to select from.
We began with the mixed Meze platter - this was an excellent choice, and the star of the night with so many items to try. The muhammara was our favorite though.
For the mains, we both enjoyed the Musakka, and shared the brussel sprouts dish. Brussel sprouts were excellently prepared. The Musakka was very good, but admittedly we have had better elsewhere.
Overall, Dunya is a very good restaurant to have a nice Mediterranean meal for lunch or dinner.

I had a quick stopover for lunch at the much heard of Dunya. Cozy and pretty ambience, sweet service and fresh warm food. We got the mezze platter out of which muhammara, tzatziki and baba ganoush was lip smacking delicious. The pita served was nice & warm, so I ordered another portion!
Vegetarian options: The falafel was nice & crisp. They have a very limited menu but definitely can find goats cheese, falafel, feta cheese options.
Parking: Dunya is located along Polk street, which is a super busy area in Downtown SF. You may have to park farther away from the restaurant as it is difficult to find parking.
If you do not find free Street parking just pay & park along the street, better safe than sorry.

Walked in as a walk in, was told I could only sit at the bare without a reservation. So I hit at the bar and make a reservation for 2 for 15 mins later I showed them and they said no because I just made it. Mind you the restaurant was only occupied by 3 tables. Nonetheless they did not let me and my friend sit at the table and the tables remained empty the whole time we were there even though they were supposedly “reserved”. Food was decent, only good thing here is the wine.
Dunya - San Francisco ⭐☆☆☆☆ Dunya bills itself as a Mediterranean restaurant, but what it really serves is a lesson in disappointment. If I could give zero stars, I would, but alas, the system won't let me. Let's start with the falafel—the supposed star of the menu. It arrived cold, bland, and with the texture of a tennis ball left out in the rain. I'm not sure if “Dunya” translates to “inedible” in some language, but that would be the most accurate descriptor. The accompanying sides were equally tragic: the hummus tasted like it had been scooped out of a store-brand tub, and the pita? Dry, crumbly, and clearly on its last legs. Now, onto the pièce de résistance: the service. Our waitress approached the table like she was doing us a favor, begrudgingly took our order, and then promptly disappeared—only to reappear when it was time to drop the check. I didn't leave a tip, because quite frankly, what was there to tip for? I assumed that would be the end of it, but no. She proceeded to complain—loudly—about the lack of gratuity, as though her nonexistent effort somehow deserved extra compensation. Newsflash: tips are earned, not extorted. Dining at Dunya was not just bad—it was an exercise in futility. If you're looking for overpriced food served with a side of attitude, this is your place. Otherwise, do yourself a favor and walk, no, run in the opposite direction.
Food is great but service is not attentive unfortunately

The food wasn't inexpensive but was very bland and honestly tasteless. We regularly go to a restaurant with similar dishes and it has very tasty food at a lower or comparable price. We were disappointed.
