This place has kinda gone down hill since they first opened. Long waits for foods, and food coming out cold. Since when is a margarita made with orange juice?? It was disgusting. Didn’t even have water available. Tried to get someone to fill it but finding someone was a struggle. This place used to have great, efficient service and food was always hot and fresh, but not anymore.

I didn't try the food, this review is just for the house margarita which was terrible (unless you like a margarita made with orange juice!)

The ambience in this place is absolutely horrific, the music is way too loud, you can’t hear yourself think because everyone is doing horrible karaoke at the volume with 100%

This food made me feel sick hours later too with a bad stomach ache. Never again will I go here.

Amazing food and atmosphere. Only issue was they spoke mainly Spanish and I don’t.

There were flies in the food so nasty

Ordered via DoorDash. Food was under seasoned, skimpy on meat, and salsa was weak. Unfortunately, I don’t understand the hype. Every bite felt like mostly tortilla. Disappointed.

El Rey has been the only Mexican restaurant we go to ever since their early days of opening, and we go almost on a weekly basis. The food is amazing - we've loved everything we've tried, but our favorites are the lamb quesabirria, al pastor tacos, arrachera tacos, carnitas quesadilla for the kiddo, and the house-made chips. Whenever Pepe (the owner) is in, he'll stop by our table to chat and tell us about where he's gotten inspiration for his latest dishes - whether it's one of his family recipes or a traditional soup from Guadalajara. He'll also often give us samples of dishes he's testing, every one of which we've really enjoyed. The ingredients are high quality, and the tacos are simple but so flavorful. You can tell this restaurant really is a passion project for him.

Recommended dishes: Taco Tradicional & Agua De Tamarindo, Consome De Birria, Carnitas, Quesabirria Tacos, Homemade Chips

What a great spot. Very friendly owner, Pepe, clearly takes alot of pride in what he's offering. Absolutely elevated tacos at reasonable prices. The al pastor here is one of the greatest tacos of all time. Passion fruit marg was very good. High quality ingredients. Nice , well decorated, light filled space. First visit. Really impressed.

Vegetarian options: The mushroom taco was so well done.

Such a cute restaurant with amazing tacos! I got the tripe with avocado and salsa and it tasted so good. One taco was already extremely filling. Also sampled carne asada (5/5) and beef tongue (2/5). Will definitely be back!

We needed a place to meet up before watching a movie and had a craving for a taco. Sadly, they wet out of the mushroom tacos for our vegetarian companion. On a positive note, the mango margaritas tasted like mango juice and I ordered two. It was only 65F outside but it was warm by the windows. Could be a bit hot on a sunny day. The bathrooms were pleasantly modern and clean. We order extra tacos because it was delicious.

I wandered in, and had an amazing night! The food was delicious, the gringa I ate tasted exactly like the ones I had when I lived in Queretaro, Mexico - I haven’t found anywhere else in the US that makes gringas like this! Pepe the owner is very kind, friendly, and generous. We started chatting and he gave us chips and drinks, and we had their delicious cocktails and margaritas.

We also were lucky enough to have a mariachi band come through when we were there Friday night and they added so much fun to the atmosphere! Highly recommend!
