We had such a fabulous experience last night on our first visit to Elephant Sushi. The food is amazing--innovaative, delicious and presented so beautifully. We had the flaming sea bass (of course!) Be sure to order that. Also Hamachi kama (collar), salmon miso soup, albacore tatami, Walu Sashimi. The fish is unbelievably fresh! We can't wait to go back to try other dishes. Our server and our hostess were lovely, incredibly helpful and attentive. And the ambience was special--plenty of large windows with light and air and a fresh decor with vibes of fishing boats. All in all, a really wonderful evening that we will repeat many times. Don't miss this place!

Sushi excellent - very fresh and tasty with creative options plus standards. Waiter very helpful and knowledgeable. Only downside was noise which made conversation challenging, but not as loud as some. Perhaps turn off music when busy.

We started with Bubbles and Caviar and finished with green tea cheesecake, both of which stellar. A few other standouts were the Chef Ochko roll, and the Ya Man roll. The Hamachi on the Chef Ochko roll was so fresh and almost meaty and was a great contrast to the clean lightness of the salmon on the Ya Man roll. We will definitely be back
Definitely order Cool as a Cucumber cocktail. It's not too spicy and has lots of flavors that blend well together. Vegetable tempura was excellent and a nice light batter. Tuna roll was very fresh

We really like this place, which is perfect for an early dinner before the symphony. This most recent visit was a bit disappointing, however. Along with sushi and karaage we ordered the fresh uni. It didn't come until the end of the meal, which is a gaffe since it should always be served first so that the delicate taste and texture isn't impacted by the taste of other food (such as spicy salmon roll!) We suspect the server forgot to put the order in until we inquired about it. Hopefully the chef knows better.

Must have - go to sushi joint every time I come to SF. Get there early to snag a table when they open.
Meh. Not such a big fan. Note I am a vegetarian. The veggie options here are quite limited, and what I had was simply not to my particular taste.That said, my friends very much enjoyed their meals.Waiting in line. Just lame. I don't like and can't almost never wait in line for a restaurant. I only did cuz my friends were excited to go here. My current status of never having a line be worth the wait stands. I will give props for the sign on system they have for putting your name in, and then texting when you are next in line is good if you have a line. But still, take reservations.I'm glad that I got a slice of pizza across the street while we were waiting for 45 minutes.Vegetarian options: Are lacking.

Generally nice staff, depending on table location you may be overlooked from time to time. Waiting customers tend to be loud and push up against occupied tables and could be better managed/located by the staff. Enjoyed the food and found its value solid. Back dinning room is very loud and over filled.

This is a wonderful spot to have sushi. Very romantic and the food is excellent.
Elephant Sushi is a great neighborhood spot; however, being near so many of the theaters, they really need to work on being mindful of "curtain times". I've been multiple times now (with plenty of time - 1.5 hrs) and shared our curtain time when we sat down. Even then, every time we've been rushing to get our bill and over to the theater in time.

The food was really good, as always. The noise level is so high they don't need to play loud music too. It was turned down eventually. Good place before the ballet. Our waiter was really terrific!
