In full disclosure, we ended here by chance. The restaurant we were headed to was closed for a private party. What good luck we had.

Firenze by night is a true family-run (Sister as the host, brother as waiter and kitchen guy), old school Italian restaurant in San Francisco’s iconic North Beach. If you’re looking for “elevated” Italian or groovy cocktail lists, this is not the place for you. But if you’re looking for amazing food and attentive service...

The service was excellent and energetic, but the portions for the appetizers were shockingly small. $13 for a Cesar salad a little bigger than my palm and $14 for Caprese (3 pieces). Giving it 3 stars because the tortellini and gnocchi were really good.

a small intimate restaurant in north beach, perfect for a date night.

the bruschetta (9/10) was solid, and exactly what you'd expect from bruschetta lol. idk how you could mess it up, but it was good!

we got the linguini tuttimare (7/10). it lacked a little flavor, and the mussels and clams were fishy and tasted old :/ presentation was great though and it came out hot!

the penne mare e monti (9.5/10)....
