Ya know? It's not the best restaurant in San Francisco--and probably isn't trying to come close to it--but it's an honest, clean, and friendly place with some delicious moments ...and others not so great. The chef creates a soup that's second to none--thick, rich, pureed --without cream but tastes like it--vegetable of the day (mine was broccoli--absolutely delicious) and the bartender shakes a nice martini (he prefers to stir, but happily followed our preference)...
I was pleased with the level of service and the food quality. We ate around 1:30 pm so it was quiet and peaceful, and we were able to engage in a normal volume conversation. I have visited this restaurant several times and each time, I have been pleased with the food quality and service, even though the service does not come with a smile or conversation. But service is efficient.
Had a lovely quiet late lunch here on Cinco de Mayo no less. We were one of two tables in entire restaurant. Dinner ambience likely different. But undoubtedly the food quality wouldn't change. I had fish and chips and my friend had the salmon. Both were excellent. If food quality is the measure there's no question one should dine here. Friendly and attentive service. Enjoy.
