I went here all the time for ice coffee. I even bought a mug from them. One day I forgot that’s my mug so I put it back their dish rack. I came back to ask for it. They said it’s gone and attempt to sell me a new one. Also the coffee has gotten weaker and weaker. The outdoor seating is nice but I’m not sure whether its worthy after all. Even though I live only 1-2 blocks from me. Its sad but I don’t think I can longer support this coffeeshop. They seem doing fine with me anyway :)

Update: I came back for my mug. Thanks :)

Very good coffee and a nice environment to get work done.

One of the best third wave coffees in the Bay Area, a consistent excellent medium roast espresso, as well as an interesting selection of pastries. The space is industrial chic, with the roasting machines in the back of the space. Not too busy in the early morning

Four Barrels is exceptional in most regards, but where it counts the most is in their roast offerings and those are world class. I had a chance to stop by this summer for a mocha and it was superb. Don't miss a chance to stop if you have the chance, and do yourself a favor by picking up a bag of beans as well.

Drinks take forever to make. Prepare for 10+ minutes for very simple orders. No WiFi. Bad food. Only reason I come here is because it's a block from my apartment.

Great vibes, good place to sit with a coffee or grab and go since IIRC they don't have WiFi (or at least they didn't when I visited.) Also have a great rotational menu of seasonal options!

It looked like it would be a good spot, but the espresso was surprisingly sour. Even the mocha was dominated by the sour taste.
You can make your beans, roasting, extraction process as fancy and convoluted as you want, but if it tastes bad, that’s bad coffee. Get serious.

I have been coming here for years and I love it! Favorite coffee cafe in SF for atmosphere and awesome coffee. Baked goods really good too especially the sweet scones when they have them… they go fast!!! If you live coffee cafes you’ll love Four Barrel. Grateful the owners founded and run this awesome SF institution which most often open on holidays too 🙏🙏

Lovely cafe with tasty coffee and great vibes! I’ve sampled Four Barrel’s coffee many times at another neighborhood favorite, The Mill, but I was excited to finally get to properly sample and appreciate the beans by visiting their OG location. The coffee is outstanding — rich, nutty, and smooth — and is especially tasty in a hot cappuccino or latte. It was a little too crowded to settle in when I dropped by on a Friday afternoon, but the vibes are super cozy and I’d be delighted to come back to sit down and work for a bit in the future. It’s also not super far from Mission Dolores Park, so you can definitely take your coffee on a short walk and hang out the park if you can’t find a seat.

This review is about sustainability only!

By 2050, there will be more plastic in the ocean than fish, and it means a lot to me as a customer to find local businesses that are helping to mitigate this pollution crisis on our hands.

I so appreciate that nearly every single person I see in this coffee shop is drinking out of a real, reusable glass or mug. It is refreshing! Especially when the norm at other cafes has become to create a constant stream of single use plastic trash, even when staying in that place to enjoy the drink.

So thank you for being a leader and setting an example, showing what is possible! Bonus points because the coffee was absolutely delicious, as was the pastry. Keep up the amazing work!

Cute spot, great great coffee, customer service varies depending on who serves you. Not the place to ask for WiFi or an outlet

Great coffee, friendly staff, wonderful pastries. I wish the pastries price was a little bit more reasonable.
