If youre a true vietnamese, this pho is the biggest let down of all time. It makes me remember that paying more doesnt usually mean the food is better! Be warned the pho noodles arent even the traditional one. Its some weird soggy flat noodle style. You know the restaurant sucks when there is no condiments to be found, only served to you per request. All in all, I paid $80 for 2 bowls of pho and it was the worse ive ever had. Sorry to the people at Gao Viet, i hate to clown a small business but this is just highway robbery. Your food sucks.

Overpriced, too much beef flavor, lacking balance. Regular pho is much better.

Review of Gap Viet Kitchen
We had been seeing a lot of posts about Gap Viet Kitchen on Instagram, so on our way back from Vancouver we decided to stop by and see if the hype was real. We reserved a table for 4 and ordered several of our favorite dishes that we usually enjoy at Vietnamese restaurants in Southern California.
Here’s what we ordered:
• Sausage Spring Roll (Nem Nuong Cuon)
• Imperial Roll (Cha Gio)
• Chicken Cartilage (Sun Ga)
• Lemongrass Tofu
• Big Gao Pho
Unfortunately, the food was very underwhelming. Everything lacked seasoning and flavor. Most dishes tasted bland and overly sweet.
• The pho was plain, with no depth of flavor, and definitely not comparable to Pho Holic in Orange County.
• The egg rolls were not wrapped in traditional Vietnamese rice paper, and the dipping fish sauce was plain with no flavor.
• The banh cuon also wasn’t good—the rice paper texture and taste were disappointing and nowhere near comparable to Brodard in Orange County, which remains the standard for nem nuong cuon and banh cuon.
The service was ok, nothing special—not bad, but not memorable either.
If you want, you can come try for yourself, but be aware: don’t expect it to taste as good as it looks online—you will be disappointed. This only for foreigners not authentic

5/5 because my parents really enjoyed their meal here. The vibe of the place is great and it was surprisingly easy to go with the family. I thought the added 5% fee + the mandatory 20% tip on top of the bill (party of 6) was a bit overkill on the junk fees which is why i rated the service 4/5. It came out to $50pp which is a bit on the pricey side.

First time trying this location, their open time supposed to be 4:30pm but everyone just kept waiting on the street until 4:50. We have a 85 year old lady and a 2 year old toddler so that’s was not a nice experience to start with. When we seat down, an Asian server gave not so good customer service, not sure what’s the attitude but every other server was great especially those ladies.
However I would say the pho is good, the broth itself really tasty. However the chicken was try for me. They put sugar cane wrapped with meat for appetizers and that’s creative. Ube coffee was great as well. Plus side I would say it’s they have sweet soy sauce and these little details makes a difference.
Overall if you are in the area wanna try some nice Vietnamese food, and have time to enjoy, give a try

Great service and food. Trendy ambiance, but it can be a bit too loud with the open kitchen, music, and echo-y space. Love the variety in dishes, including its large shareable plates. We ordered the Mama's Claypot, Chef Choice Spring Rolls, Gao Salad (mango salad), and Bahn Khot mini pancakes.
- Chef Choice Spring Rolls: This contained the fried imperial rolls, tofu spring rolls, sausage spring rolls, shrimp spring rolls, and Pho Rolls. My favorite were the Pho Rolls. The imperial rolls tasted a little like basic minced mushroom fried egg rolls. The peanut paste was a little too sweet for me.
- Bahn Khot mini pancakes: The flavor of these was very subtle. The shrimp was delicious and cooked perfectly. The coconut milk taste in the pancakes was very subtle and almost non-existent. It was pretty refreshing to eat the mini pancakes with the fresh herbs (mint, cilantro) and pickled radish.
- Gao Salad (Mango salad with BBQ): This wasn't bad. Strong sweet and sour taste, but it was pretty refreshing. The BBQ shrimp wasn't bad, but compared to the shrimp in the mini pancakes, I liked the ones on the mini pancakes more. The BBQ shrimp in the salad was a little bit too dry.
- Mama's Claypot: Very strong flavor. Very salty, but the catfish was so tender. The pineapple chunks were so salty and wish they could've been added in towards the end instead of being steeped in the salty sauce to make the dish a bit more refreshing. Pairing it with rice is a must, and it also came with tomato and cucumber chunks, which really helped subdue the saltiness.
Overall, everything tasted great. Flavors of all dishes (except for the claypot) were subtle, light, and balanced. Would definitely return to try their other dishes, like their 5-spiced chicken. Everything looks so good.

First time dining here, and I was blown away by the portion sizes — they’re huge and perfect for sharing family-style. My friends and I ordered four starters and two noodle dishes, and everything was delicious. I’d definitely come back, especially since the menu is so extensive.
Standouts: bánh xèo, bánh cuốn, beef boy pho, lychee coconut freeze

You can’t go wrong with Gao Viet! I’ve tried several dishes on the menu, and each one has been flavorful, delicious, and unique in its own way. The prices are fair for the quality and portion sizes, and the restaurant is always clean and bustling with customers. Highly recommend!

Amazingly good food, creative Vietnamese like I’ve never had before. Well worth the higher price. We had the Gaozilla, could serve 4 people. Broth was flavorful yet light, lots of scallions and parsley and greens. Lots of high quality meats. The waiter was super nice and warned us the portion size is big. We also the shrimp coconut cakes as appetizer, very unique and yummy.
