Pineapple buns were amazing, great price too ($1 each). Egg tarts were alright ($2 each), surprisingly more expensive than the pineapple buns.
BEST pineapple bun hands down in the universe! And I'm Asian! Served warm and fresh from their oven, this bun is out of this world. Go pass the friendly old guys who are there all day, and a super nice lady behind the counter will give you the best .. did I mention BEST...pineapple bun!!
Also tried the other hot buns which were REALLY good, but the Pineapple bun is king!
Came here because Golden Gate Bakery was closed.
The egg tart is definitely not as good. The crust is kinda boring and the custard is average.
Bbq pork bun tasted kinda funny like fermented pork.
Wouldn’t really recommend this bakery although the service was nice.
Garden Bakery - cute little dumpling shop specializing in all the delicious plates of dim sum we love. So many older men/grandpa's in here enjoying their morning coffee/tea and morning baked goods. We felt this was pretty authentic !!!!
Tried a few items as I walked through Chinatown in downtown San Francisco. Easy to point at the food, order, pay, leave.
This is an old school bakery being around for decades, the buns are good enough for what we paid. Liked the pineapple buns, char siu bao.
Delicious pineapple bun fresh off the oven for only $1. Bun is fluffy pineapple top is crunchy, right amount of sweetness and a little salt to balance it off. Very traditional small bakery bring you back to last century
The best egg custard ever, had to order more next day before I left on my trip back home.
The quality & freshness is always on point.
Really enjoyed the massive almond cookies.

Standard baked desserts. Got an egg tart, pineapple bun, and a wife pastry. They also have huge moon cakes and plenty of traditional pastries. No tables.

Everything was not fresh, the egg tart was soggy and the pork bbq was not juicy at all.
Our experience here was not good, however there were a lot of Chinese people so it might still be an authentic place.

Unfortunately, we didn't like any of the three pieces. Unfortunately, the particle that looks like a plum pastry with vanilla pudding only tastes like egg. If you like it, unfortunately it wasn't our case.

No integrity with their service and price. Said one thing, then charged another. When asked about the price changed, denied it. Went there to try the egg tart, flavorless. Looks amazing, but no flavor.

October 4, 2024- Friday.
I was craving some Pineapple Buns and Garden Bakery has the best ones available in Chinatown. As of October 4, 2024- they are selling it for $1 each. Delicious and service was spot on!

We had a grilled chicken sandwich that was excellent, and a chorizo omelette that was tasty but quite heavy. The service was friendly and welcoming, but it was slow—from taking our order to serving the food and refilling coffee or water, everything took a bit longer than expected.
