Just discovered this little takeout section of Showa! Incredibly cheap for SF delivery but still delicious!

So far we’ve tried the katsu, beef, and eel… cooked to perfection. Udon and soup were great, very flavorful! Not sure how they manage to keep the meats from overcooking, but I’m not complaining. Even the poached egg was perfectly cooked! The katsu wasn’t as crispy but that was expected considering we ordered cheese on top and it had to be delivered...

Ordered takeout from here and was super impressed with how well the food / flavors were kept. I enjoyed the classic gyudon with poached egg, which featured a light dashi broth, cuts of beef, green onions, caramelized onions, light seaweed, and of course a juicy poached egg.

Pricing is fairly reasonable considering it's SF, and quality of rice was notably good. My friend REALLY enjoyed the unajyu / unagyu don!

Honestly just writing this review so I don’t forget about this place. I don’t know how they managed to make their katsu stay crispy throughout delivery, but they done did it. Highly recommend!
