The staff responded kindly. The bubble milk tea was delicious. I liked it because it tasted like I originally knew it. It was nice to meet the Gongcha I used to eat in Korea in San Francisco.
They were good. But the kiosk takes away from customer interaction. There's no talking between the server and the customers, except to call your number. Atmosphere was much better when they didn't have the kiosk.
Most of the other milk tea restaurants close to Union Square had already closed for the evening and this place just happened to be across the street from the hotel I was staying at. The space inside Gong Cha is really small so some people were waiting outside and some inside. I ordered a simple milk tea with boba from one of the touchscreen kiosks and waited next to a staircase where I had a good view of the staff preparing the orders. I waited, and waited and waited some more...
