Great food. Perhaps the best Indian food we’ve ever had. My family had samosas, garlic naan, lamb curry, chicken tikka masala, butter chicken and lamb vindaloo. Great flavor.

Having spent time in many villages in the Gorkha district and having close Gurung friends, I can say with confidence that Gurung Kitchen is absolutely perfect. The food is incredible — traditional, authentic, and beautifully prepared. Every dish feels like it was made with care and love, just like in Nepal.
The atmosphere is peaceful and welcoming, with lovely flower and butterfly decorations that make the space feel warm and special. You’ll notice that many of the guests are Nepali, which tells you how true to home the flavors are.
The service is gentle, kind, and attentive — you really feel taken care of here. This is a restaurant that serves not just food, but genuine hospitality and culture.
Definitely a must-visit in San Francisco. I’ll be coming back every time I’m in the city!

While walking on Irving street between 12th and 9th street in San Francisco, I came across Gurung Restaurant. It sounded different amidst all other Asian restaurants on that stretch of the street. I stopped by to take a peek at the menu by the entrance. Ah ha! The menu had a big list of Indian dishes both veg and non-veg. I decided to take a peek into the restaurant and was pleased with a welcoming decor of flower-decked walls that made me feel like I entered into a garden.
It being a cool and misty afternoon, I was craving for some hot and spicy snacks. I ordered a couple of veg dishes such as Veg-Chilli Momos and Chilli Paneer to start with. Both the dishes were delicious, perfectly cooked to be soft and juicy. I also tried their Gobhi-Manchurian, it was crunchy and had perfect spices and sauces. All the dishes tasted so authentic. Am for sure going back to try their other dishes.
I have to point out that the staff was very friendly and gave great suggestions when asked about the choices meeting our craving-level :)
Great ambiance and yummy food! A go to place for Indian food!
