I came to Hawthorn last weekend for my buddy’s bachelor party— he booked a table for bottle service, and honestly it was the best decision we could have made.
A few of us arrived earlier than the bachelor (whose name the table reservation was under) but a guy came upstairs was super cool and walked us to our table right away. Our server was amazing — attentive without hovering. The DJ was on point, mixing a solid range of hip hop and house that kept the whole dance floor hyped up until closing.
The club itself is really cool — it’s got that underground speakeasy vibe but still feels upscale and lively definitely not dead. Plenty of space to dance or just chill at our table.
If you’re planning a special night out, especially with a group, I’d 100% recommend doing bottle service here. It’s worth it simply for the experience and the way they treat you. Not to mention the prices here are way better than other nightclubs I’ve popped bottles at in the past. We’ll definitely be back next time we’re in the area.
$20 cover and literally no one here. Bad vibes. Also included 20% service and asked for a tip hoping people arent reading. Very scammy.
Lamest place in SF. Avoid it. Barely 4 people on a Friday night.
Absolutely loved Hawthorn! The vibe was classy and fun. The space felt both intimate and energetic. The service is top tier. Definitely my go-to spot for a night out in SF
I absolutely love this place and the vibe is so exquisite and beautiful. My sister went here for her birthday and she was explaining how the service was amazing and made her feel so special for her birthday and how vibey it was in the club. Can’t wait to visit again !!
My experience here was a complete letdown from start to finish. I came out with a group of friends, hoping to have a fun night out in San Francisco, but we were shocked at how dead this place was. There was not a single person inside except for a couple of bored-looking staff. The music was playing to an empty dance floor, and there was absolutely no vibe or energy in the room.
To make matters worse, the staff at the door still insisted that we pay a cover charge just to get in. I honestly have no idea what we were supposed to be paying for—an empty room and zero atmosphere? When we asked if it was going to get busier, they just shrugged and ignored our concerns. The whole thing felt like a cash grab.
We stuck around for a few minutes thinking maybe people would show up, but it never happened. It was awkward and honestly kind of embarrassing. We ended up leaving almost immediately and felt like we completely wasted our time and money. There are plenty of other nightclubs and lounges in SF with actual crowds and real energy—do yourself a favor and skip Hawthorn. This was by far the most disappointing and overpriced experience I’ve had in the city.
Don’t fall for it. Find somewhere else that actually delivers on a night out.
Honestly, this was one of the worst nightclub experiences I’ve ever had. I showed up at Hawthorn SF Nightclub and Lounge expecting at least some sort of crowd, but there was literally nobody inside. The place was empty, no music, no atmosphere, nothing going on. And yet, the staff still had the nerve to demand a cover charge to get in. Why on earth would I pay to stand around in an empty club? The whole setup feels like a ripoff. Don’t waste your time or money here—there are way better options in SF if you actually want to have a good time.
Absolutely disappointing experience at Hawthorn SF Nightclub and Lounge. This place is a total scam. There was literally no one inside, completely empty, but the staff still insisted we pay for entrance. Why should anyone pay to go into a club with zero people and zero vibe? The bouncers at the door are rude and just try to squeeze money out of you for nothing. The whole atmosphere is dead. If you’re looking for a fun night out in San Francisco, avoid this place at all costs. Save your money and your night—go anywhere else but here.
I went to Hawthorne for first time for my birthday celebration. It was a wonderful night! We had such fun! They have two rooms with different music and a step down dance floor which was really nice. The music was great and the drinks and bartenders were great! I plan to definitely go again ☺️

Would’ve been great except for the aggressive, power-hungry bouncers
Incredible venue, great sound system and a perfect atmosphere to have a few drinks with a friend or party the night away

Robert is the best in the game!
Wasn’t bad, considering SF nightlife.
Every time I come here I have a terrible time because the bouncers are so unnecessarily aggressive and ruuuuuuuuuuude
