Hayes Street Grill still has some of the best food in town but the service quality has definitely declined while the prices on the menu are eye popping. The tables are set too close to one another, which makes having a private conversation almost impossible.
I dine at Hayes Street fairly frequently because overall I like the restaurant and have a good experience. And that was true in this last dinner there. But the last few times I've been there I've had some sense of a bit of slippage from the level of quality of food that I had come to expect. The service and other aspects were still fine. But I was a little concerned about what seemed like a bit of slippage and the food quality. 
Friendly, knowledgeable, efficient service only enhances the beautifully prepared menu selections. Hayes Street Grill is a long-time favorite and continues to maintain its stellar reputation.
