Visited at 6 PM on a weekday when the restaurant wasn’t too busy. The ambiance was pleasant and welcoming, and the staff were friendly throughout our meal. The egg rolls made a great start — crisp and flavorful. The Kung Pao chicken was perfectly spicy and easily the best dish of the evening. Both the shrimp and chicken combo fried rice and the chow mein noodles were tasty and satisfying. Overall, a nice spot for a relaxed and delicious meal.

Disappointed :(
The service was honestly a bit slow, but the food was delicious! (and authentic, according to my friends) I especially enjoyed the beer duck, chicken soup, and fish.

Oh Henry. Got a heads up that there were many Chinese dining there and that is always a strong indicator of quality, authentic food. This was not the case at Henry's Hunan. We have eaten in Asia and across the States in Chinese restaurants. This was one of the most disappointing meals. Portions though generous, were bland with the only seasoning red pepper. Three dishes all had the same flavor, even the sweet and sour soup was below standard. Atmosphere was drab and stark. It was late on a Tuesday and tables uncleared. (Our server was professional and efficient. ) We chose this restaurant, having discovered that many restaurants in Chinese town were closed and that at 8:00 Z & Y Peking Restaurant was out of Peking duck with a 45 minute wait.
Ordered the veg fried rice, veg chow mein and kung pao tofu. One of the best places to get Chinese food. Highly highly recommend this place.

Big portions
Extremely overpriced for okay food.
We ordered a chicken dish which is $27 around, and it was filled with chicken bones entirely. Just small pieces of meat you can eat. Honestly that dish is probably worth not even $5. And other dishes are also mid. No need to go there.
I ordered a small farm stir-fried chicken. This dish, which cost almost 30 US dollars, turned out to be all chicken bones and only a few bits of meat. Another dish, the beef, didn't feel very cooked. Very low value for money. Not recommended.

Restaurantji Recommends
I saw a lot of recommendations online, so I came here to eat.
It tastes really good. As soon as you eat it, you can tell that it is different from American Chinese food. The stir-fried beef with pickled peppers can taste the fragrance of pickled peppers, and the beef is also very tender. The ingredients for stir-fried green beans are very fresh and you can taste the sweetness of the beans themselves. The fried rice noodles are relatively average but okay. I plan to go to this store again to try other dishes sometime.
The service is also very good. Out of respect, we usually take the initiative to speak English to the clerk when we enter a store. However, as soon as we entered this store, the boss and the clerk greeted us warmly in Chinese, which made people feel very comfortable and completely without the inexplicable sense of superiority that some American-style Chinese restaurants have.
I hope the boss will become bigger and stronger and the business will get better and better.

WARNING: DO NOT GET THE ENGLISH MENU
This restaurant is phenomenal. It’s the best Chinese food I’ve eaten outside of China. Make sure to ask for the Chinese menu, and definitely get the frog and the noodles.
The low reviews seem to be from people ordering Americanized items off the English menu (ie kung pao chicken, lo mein, etc).

Great Chinese food in SF. This is no doubt a favorite for so many people especially Asians.
One star less for food because they don't have halal chicken options.
