Love this place. Diana's meat pie is the best. Sad to see so many locations close since the pandemic but happy for the family to have educated their kids so well that they no longer want to be in the business.

Love of pork Marty Special Shrimp with Cabbage Always have hot and sour soup and if you are there for lunch ask for a second free little bowl of soup and they gladly give Hunan Velvet Chicken Mmm It's on its way now. Been too long .....

OH, HENRY! That's what I say whenever I take a bite of one of Henry's delicious platters. Henry has a spectacular gambit of scrumptious morsels that never fail to please. The hot and sour soup, sauteed green beans, and Marty's special, are only a few of the dastardly delights your taste buds might befriend.

Still the best quality Hunan restaurant in the Bay Area. I drive out from the East Bay just for their delicious dishes. Nothing even remotely close.

Had the Kung Pao Chicken but it was very boring: just chicken, onions, and peanuts. No “whole red peppers”, only three tiny pieces of bell peppers.Very far away from the menu description!

Henry's is the standard by which I measure any other Chinese restaurant. Although I no longer live in the SF Bay area, when I do return there to visit family, I make it a point to stop at their Church Street location for lunch or dinner, usually dragging along a few old friends in my wake. Jeff, the proprietor of this location, is friendly, as is the rest of the staff. The food is wonderful, from their hot and sour soup, to the meat pie appetizer, to the delicious main courses such as Marty's special (custom-smoked ham and chicken with vegetables in a delicious black bean sauce), Henry's special (chicken, shrimp, and scallops with vegetables) and their shredded pork with spinach and scrambled egg. Many of the items are hot by default, but Jeff is very accommodating and they'll prepare them "not-so-hot" if you ask. My only regret is that I don't have any photos to attach to this review...but I certainly will address that after my next visit.

My family insisted on Chinese food before my daughter's Christmas concert, so we opted for Henry's since it's close to her school and we were pressed for time. Our server Cyndy provided excellent service. She was attentive, friendly, and ensured our satisfaction throughout the meal. I was disappointed to find out they didn't serve iced green tea, but I ended up enjoying a Sierra Nevada beer instead, which surprisingly paired well with the Chinese dishes. The food itself was very tasty. I ordered the off-menu sweet & sour shrimp along with mu shu veggies. As a bonus, the patrons next to us complimented our children's behavior, which was a pleasant surprise considering they can have their moments!

Henry's Hunan is one of the most historically and culturally important food institutions in San Francisco. That sounds like a bold statement, but it's true. The original Henry is basically responsible for bringing Hunanese style food to the United States about 100 years ago with the original location being in Chinatown. Much has changed over time, but the quality of the food and the service has not. Henry's prides themselves on using quality ingredients and letting them speak for themselves. This style of Chinese food is known for being VERY spicy so be warned. I've had friends who thought they knew what they were getting into get caught off guard. But fear not! The staff are always friendly and accommodating and that's part of the reason why I've been going to the different Henry's locations since I was a kid with my family. Although I prefer the dishes very spicy, they still are exceptional if you prefer to order it medium or mild. This is probably the best one in the City still. My personal favorite dishes include the Onion Cakes, the Mongolian Beef and the Country Style Tofu and Vegetables. They have great vegetarian options for people who really enjoy their veggies.

Great food, been coming here for years. Specially the noodles with pork sauce and Diana's meat pie. Also, the wonton soup.
