HINODEYA Ramen Union Square

I had the creamy vegan ramen and subbed for the gluten free rice noodles. The noodles could’ve been better, they were stuck together and I had to do a lot to pry them apart enough to eat. The broth was tasty but could’ve been hotter, which probably also would’ve made my noodles better- hotter broth would’ve unstuck the noodles. I probably wouldn’t return on my own, but if I were with other people who wanted ramen it’s definitely a good option.

First visit to Hinodeya and thought it was pretty good and had a fair price point. Opted for the creamy vegan ramen with extra iniri tofu which made the plate really filling. Loved both the vegetable gyoza and shishito peppers appetizers as well! While this place was satisfying, it was from better like someone else said than Mensho. That being said, this is a great runner up to any other bay area vegan ramen therefore I'll keep it in mind in the event I am ever needing a late night bowl [open until 1 am or 3am ]

Had the Yuzi Zen ramen which appears to be seasonal so I cannot guarantee it’ll be on the menu when you see this review. But it was very flavorful, unique salty and citrusy broth, great veggies and tofu. Definitely with the price and you cannot beat that it’s open late night. Updated from previous review on 2025-10-09

This spot was just as good as the Japan Town location. I had the chicken umami ramen and it was perfect with its flavorful broth and a combination of the toppings. It really hit the spot. What I especially liked about this location is that it stays open until 1:30 AM, which is rare in the city where most places close by 9. The space felt upscale and lively, making it a unique Japanese dining experience I would definitely recommend.

Really great clam noodle! The first meal I had when I arrived SF. The soup contained the clam favor that allowed you to feel really differently. I sat on the side of the road, and I really enjoyed eating noodles while appreciating the night life and people walking by.

Loved my experience at Hinodeya Union Square! The staff were so attentive and welcoming, really made us feel cared for. The food was amazing!!! Reminded me of home in Asia. and the place itself is super cozy.

Big thanks to Bun, who was so warm, polite, and friendly. He even brought us mochi ice cream, which made the whole visit extra special. Definitely left us smiling.
