Old school Chinese restaurant. I think food used to be better here years ago. Prices now are not bad still but you get what you pay for.

Decent, affordable and I would both a)come back in a heartbeat and b)recommend to my most sophisticated acquaintances.

They serve the type of official City Chinese Food you really be missing when you are stranded tragically in a land of uncivilized heathens where you can’t get any decent Chinese. They just don’t do it like this in the middle of nowhere.

This ain’t the type of place you visit for ambiance and service. Let’s just put it like that. Decor and white glove attention is never on the menu in this particular genre for me.

I got an order beef and broccoli that was solid. Like Big Body Bes said you have to see what their blades are hittin for when you visit a new barber. Beef and Broccoli is to Americanized Chinese food what the tapered or faded dark Caesar is to barbershops. If they mess that one up… can’t be trusted. But Hong and Co didn’t let me down.

Last time I was here a lively fellow who appeared unable to bathe daily asked to use the restroom and was adamantly refused. He said his Grandmother was Chinese but anyone with vision in their eyes could see that he was lying comedically.

Can’t wait to come back tbh

Hong's Kitchen is like eating in SF in the 1980's. Not very romantic inside but the food can be excellent. If you take the time to order in advance there are many great dishes. Crab with rice cakes, Fried Chicken stuffed with sticky rice and Winter Mellon Soup (just to name a few). These are special and worth planning around. If you go in last minute there are some Cantonese dishes that are fine but not any better or worse than any other old school Chinese restaurant in SF. Also byob!

Visiting this place with friends familiar with Southern Chinese cuisine was very educational. A number of exotic entries were fresh and tasteful, with excellent flavorful sauces. Very friendly owners. The whole family loved the place.

Very good Chinese food, better than in Chinatown! Price was very reasonable as well, the place was full of locals. Recommend 100%

I wouldn't go back. Indifferent service. No care was taken to trim my porkchop. I was constantly removing gristle and bits of bone after most bites. Towards the end of my meal, I found a small piece of wire. The woman couldn't care less. Zero atmosphere. Cash only. In one of the Chinese food capitals of the world, why go back?

I ordered a plate of lunch special Sweet and Sour Pork. The flavor is great, very sweet and sour. The portion is huge for a lunch portion, definitely had a food coma after that. The decor is definitely old school and a little dirty, but this is the kind of place it is, no frills with fairly cheap prices for good quality food.

Good Chinese and good value.... however the lady that served me was as unfriendly as I've ever experienced at any restaurant hereShe literally glowered borderline hatred at me when I was inquiring about their milkshakes on the wall menu......it clearly was written there on the board that they have milkshakes....lady don't get mad at me for asking for a milkshake....take it off the boardThat was the second experience I had with her.....the first time I had dinner there she literally followed me to the bathroom and checked it after I was done using it.... I'm flabbergasted at the level of distaste she shows towards others outside her own raceBlows my mindDespite liking the good I vow never to go back

The porridge w/ meatballs was the highlight. Meatballs had nice texture & flavor. The beef chow fun was good. Some enjoyed the squab. The preserved egg & pork porridge was completely bland.
