Great Chinese food, cannot go wrong. We love all the dishes, especially the rib dish. The price is reasonable. Would eat there again.

Best lunch deal in Chinatown.
Drink, soup, and dish over rice for less than $12
The food is pretty good. Very understaffed. Appetizer - garlic spicy pork could be improved.

Omg!
Came out for my birthday, the food was OK, egg rolls cold, KungPow Chicken was Kungewe and on the way out the door I saw a cockroach walking across a table.
Only good thing was the server.

Unfortunately the dish “House combination” ordered from delivery was unfresh and the ingredients including pork blood and fish had weird smell

Hunan House has been a go-to spot for me ever since they first opened. While the place has shifted more towards a “hole in the wall” vibe compared to their early days when everything felt brand new, the food is still just as good. Their lunch specials are super reasonably priced and tasty, making it a great spot for a quick bite during the day.
That said, my absolute favorite dishes aren’t part of the lunch specials. I highly recommend the cumin lamb and the explosive chili pepper fish. Pair them with some rice, and trust me, you won’t be disappointed.

The "Hunan dinner" combination was excellent, and by asking it is possible to obtain a non-spicy or slightly spicy variant.
The service is very quick, the food arrives shortly after the order.

Restaurantji Recommends
We ate for lunch: the food is good and the portions are very generous. The service is not very friendly and the cleanliness is certainly poor: luckily I went to the bathroom after eating, because if I had gone earlier, having seen the kitchen on my way to the toilets, I would have changed restaurant. Average price.

Service was absolutely horrible, came with friends after being recommended to go there. The server was being extremely rude, the issues started after being ignored for a good 20 minutes. I asked someone if we could order at the register or if there was someone coming to help us. Keep in mind there were only about 3 other tables occupied, so the restaurant was empty. She started to take my order, shaking her head at what I was ordering and rolling her eyes. I asked if there was a problem with what I was ordering and just said yeah, rolled her eyes and laughed. Not sure what her issue was, but we got up and left. No way I'd pay to eat somewhere after being treated like that.

Rude customer service, server was extremely rude. Rolled her eyes 3X because we asked for rice & she asked if it was going to be shared. We were a party of 6, dam well we weren’t going to sit there & let her humiliate us.

We were a very large party of 20. They seated us upstairs on the third floor, which was a large banquet room. No elevator. The other group that was sealed at the far end was very noisy. The food was delicious and plentiful. They were slow bringing the rice. All 9 dishes were delightful.
