I enjoyed our trip to Jang!
The food and sake pairings were great, especially towards the later courses. Service was good, too, although place was empty (tbf it was a Wednesday evening) so they'd have to try pretty hard to mess up on that front. Nevertheless, they didn't!
As others have said; the atmosphere could be improved. The decor reminded me of a medium budget hotel - not bad, but... somewhat soulless and forgettable. Perhaps some artwork? Maybe it the ceiling wasn't covered in brown acoustic carpet?
I also much preferred the Kpop to the random grade 6 piano covers that were on earlier in the evening.
All in all, for the price, this place deserves a much better reputation and to be far busier than it was. Definitely worth a try!
It was yummy but I got really bad diarrhea from this place. I should’ve known - it was weird that the meat and rice dish was served cold. they probably had prepped it and left it out all day. I also tried calling and emailing the next day hopefully to resolve this poor experience but no one responded
Echoing some other reviews, beware there is a 20% service fee that doesn’t include tip or gratuity. While the service was fine and ambiance nice, it doesn’t make sense to include a 20% service fee. The restaurant should think about increasing price of their tasting menu rather than expect diners to pay tip on top of 20% service fee.
Otherwise, the food was good but the service fee left a bitter taste.
Chef menu experience for 2+hours. Food is a mix of Korean Japanese and American. Presentation was great. Atmosphere was weird a bit at most of the time we sat alone.
Dinner here was pretty nice. It wasn't too hard to get a reservation. The servers were a little awkward but it was fine ultimately. The food was really good. Maybe some of their sauces were a bit saltier but the way everything was prepared and cooked seemed good. Really fun takes on asian (Korean) and american flavors and dishes.
Maitake with pine nut miso sauce was delicious
Pay attention to the bill! 20% service fee is already added.
Besides ^ which we almost didn’t realize, the food was pretty good and filling. I especially liked the wagyu strip - it’s so tender and flavorful, probably cooked for a long time as the meat is rich with flavor from the sauce. I liked the cod as well, surprisingly good with the lightly spicy sauce. As a heavy coffee drinker, I liked the dessert as well which is essentially pudding with coffee flavored foam.
The restaurant is pretty modern and clean. Not the best area in Hayes but worth a visit!
The food was light and beautifully prepared, especially the wagyu and cod. Don't be deterred by the low reviews. The service could be better to be more on par with the restaurant's high end image. Overall, we still very much enjoyed our dinner and hope to be back when their menu shifts.
