Staying in Chinatown, it was harder to find a vegetarian breakfast/brunch nearby than I expected. K Five Fifty is an unassuming counter in the expansive lobby of 550 Kearny. Turns out it's a full kitchen with a chef cooking to order, although some items are packaged for grab and go. The menu is brief but flexible. I had the avocado toast. It includes poached eggs, but he was happy to scramble them for me. I'm guessing you can make this vegan by swapping the eggs for one of the sides. Friendly proprietor, great service, and excellent value. All the ingredients were fresh and the toast was an excellent crispy whole grain sour dough that held up to the thick avocado. As far as ambiance, I was content to chill out and read to the sound of the chef chopping his mis en place and the muted lobby muzak.

They serve Peet's coffee, the food is OUTSTANDING, not the ordinary food you got from most cafe. The breakfast is made to order, unlike next door S***'s pre-made and reheat breakfast. The food is soooo good. The scramble egg is not ordinary scramble eggs. There is no potatoes in breakfast burritos, instead you got avocado. The burrito is lightly browned. It is super good. The avocado toast is avocado mixed with sunflower seeds. Two slides of toasts is too much for me. So I replace one slide of avocado toast with scramble eggs w/o extra charge. The owner is very flexible in customize for you. I come here for 3 breakfast out of 4 days stays in SF. I chat with the owner on the 3rd day and realize he is the room-service chef at Ritz Carlton. No wonder the food is outstanding like high-end restaurant. Big lobby with big window. The service is much more friendly than chain stores. Highly recommended, avoid crowd and come here to enjoy a real treat.Kid-friendliness: big space

Must-try: their sandwiches! Why? The owner is very kind, he even made free chicken wings to give out! The sandwich was very filling and had a lot of meat for the price. Overall a very chill place to hangout.Protip: try their lattes, extra frothy

What a hidden gem! I was originally going to the Starbucks to get some work done until I stumbled upon a pretty building whose awning is covered by beautiful plants. I had to stop and check google to see if this place was public and it turned out the lobby is a coffee shop and lounge! Much more comforting and inviting vibes than Starbucks for sure! There is great customer service and if you’re going to be there for a while you can order in the front, start a tab, it’s brought to you and you can pay from your phone! The food is good, the drinks are great and there’s also super clean restrooms.

Located in the lobby of 550 Kearny, this spot is truly a hidden gem! It is unassuming, unpretentious, but full of heart. Jing runs this cafe himself with so much passion and generosity. I've had his chinese chicken curry on lucky days when he doesn't sell out (he sells out fast!) and his beef noodle soup. The curry is freaking delicious and you can tell it's made with love. The chicken just falls apart from tenderness and the curry packed with flavor comes with rice (no picture because I eat before thinking). He has a whole menu of daily lunch specials along with your regular coffee menu and a wine bar? It's hard to find a place in fidi where lunch costs less than $20 and the owner serves you with a smile. Can't wait to try everything else!

This is my go-to spot for coffee, breakfast, and lunch! The service is amazing, the man that works here is beyond nice. He makes a delicious BLTA and breakfast burrito. Also the tiramisu is *chefs kiss*

Great (strong) coffee, good prices, and the food is made to order - delicious! The owner runs the shop, and he is incredibly personable and kind. Support local businesses!

I only gave this place 1 star because it was the minimum I could give to leave a review.Imagine NO STARS.The good reviews I'm sure are from people who don't look "unusual"....On Aug the 26, 2022 at approximately 11:00 am I walked into your coffee shop 5/50 in San.Francisco and was greated by a man who looks to be perhaps a close relative of yours. He walked straight up to me as I was approaching the counter. "We don't want your type here" Why? I asked. "What are you here for?" He said. I am a Buddhist monk visiting from Cambodia, can I have a cup of coffee and perhaps some pastry? I said. "Sure, IF that's what you're here for you can have some coffee, but you can't sit over there!" He said. He pointed to a couch wher others were sitting. There was plenty of room. Why I asked? If I'm a patron here? Then he decided to kick me out! I asked why he would put me out for asking a simple question?"I'm having a bad day!" He told me.I asked him his name and he ignored me.I have better things to do in Cambodia right now, so this is one reason why I'm now not suing your pants off for discrimination.I don't believe you will always be so lucky.I will also be so bold here to suggest that, having no way of keeping tabs on the pulse of the customers who fund your business with their money but "Yelp", isn't really the smart thing to do.

This place is a hidden gem in an area without of a lot of hidden gems left that doesn't break the bank. It's inside the lobby of 550 Kearney, you can see it on the left. Beautiful lobby which is also a kinda neat feature to K Five Fifty. Jin was so darn nice and helpful going there for an early lunch. I ordered a large coffee, peets and strong, $3. Got a chicken BLTA which was fantastic. Jim makes it personally, showed me the heirloom tomatoes that he was using, gorgeous! Lots of avocado and chicken, the bread was thick, fresh and had a nice spread of dressing on it. Was very good. Even came with a side salad. We split it, and it was perfect for us. Sammy was 14.Hard to find food this quality at this price with this service in this part of town. Gets a 5 star from me.
