No frills GRUB spot. Lolo and Lola are in the back whipping it up. Just wave and they’ll greet you with a smile. If you know, you know ??‍♂️ Delicious and affordable food. Coming out with Chicken&Pork Adobo combo with white rice in March 2024 for $10.40. ALWAYS ask for extra sauce on your rice, you won’t be sorry. Shout out.

A bit of a rusty spoon tucked on the main road in the mission. Quick filipino food if you're ever tired or in a hurry during lunch. I got the bistek and rice.

Food was fantastic! The braised beef was super flavorful and the mini lumpias were also good! Wish they had more choices but the food delicious and authentic all the way to the chicken adobo!

This was my second time here..and for some reason I was charged $13.14 for four Shish kebab‘s that i thought would be at least $8.00. ( they where small portions ) Meat was served cold, same as first visit. Ok, so cold food. I really don’t know what i was expecting. Maybe hot temp food! ( sarcasm) Not going or would recommend anybody to this place. Bottom tier food. Service is what is expected from a “fast food place “ not good, but was is aGood? Not really. Undercooked pork is gross. The positive reviews are questionable. Maybe they really like bad food.

Food was overpriced and it wasn’t good. That would be the last time I’m eating there.

tl;dr solid cheap food + variety for lunch Kababayan Cafe, located in the heart of the Mission District, is a place that could easily be overlooked due to its inconspicuous nature. It's a fundamental hole in the wall joint, run by just a solitary person - a potential setback for those in a hurry, but ensuring a meticulous execution of each dish. The restaurant, despite its humble appearance, offers generous servings of food without putting a significant dent in your pocket. My hearty plate that was basically just meat was just $12. Depending on the day of your visit, the menu varies. On my stop in, the pancit noodles had good texture but fell a bit short on flavor. The sisig was flavorful but suffered slightly from the chewiness of the pork. While the individual dining atmosphere might turn off some, those who appreciate solitude in their culinary adventures will find it to their liking. The service is mostly run by 1 person so you go up to the counter and order nand there's not much else - so good if you're going in-n-out for lunch. Kababayan Cafe lacks the Instagrammable vibe we often seek out, and it may be a bit better on price/quality point in Daly City in terms of quality, but it's certainly not a venue to write off and is very solid for a Mission Lunch spot and offers a hard-to-find variety of Filipino food in SF (compared to Inion city/Daly city).

They serve good food. If you are lucky they have turon, suman, even Balot. This place is like a hole in the wall. Enjoy!

I came here for early dinner while waiting for my phone to be repaired nearby. While the food was ok, I wanted to commend the up front person with being a decent guy. I got a special of beef with rice and some vegetables plus a juice. My total was around 16$ and while it says they take credit cards on the window, he told me they weren't working today. I only had 7$ in cash on me and was ready to leave but he told me that fine. So thank you.
