Everything was so good. Full of flavors and meat was so juicy. Portion was good. I would definitely order again.

Coming back from a trip to Tokyo, I realized that I'd forgotten to get one of the famed katsu sandos. Not easy to find here if you don't want something that came out the fridge at Nijiya. This place didn't disappoint. Got the katsu sando, with a optional kinda bento thing (mac salad, Japanese pickles). Katsu was nice and thick, bread was nice and thin. Mac salad noodles were properly firm. It's also a welcome find in that area of Market St. which mostly has boring office-lunch places. Looks like they just added tteokbokki to their menu, which is easier to find in general --- but definitely not in that area. Ordering is on a kiosk, but they will give you table service. Tip accordingly, LOL.

came from oracle park took an hour to get over to katsu plus $18 ride - it’s 3pm on a sat. theres patrons in the store. we’re told its closed. but hours say open till 830pm. im livid. i have a hungry child with me not to mention we’re on a time crunch. what kind of business just decides to close with no explanation. never ever coming back.

The plain curry rice came in a bowl with the curry on top. There were not many vegetables and they were undercooked. This and the miso soup were served lukewarm. The takoyaki was good and the room was clean.

I’ve given this place two chances. The second time is because there’s hardly any other restaurants open late around here. There is zero service. Nobody comes out to greet you. Nobody even answers a question. I have to yell into the kitchen. You ask, and they run back into the kitchen and never say anything again. they are working on a gazillion DoorDash orders, and will not tell you how long you have to wait if you just walk in and order.

So of course their machine asks if you want to give a 20% tip!!!!

I've ordered take out a couple times and food was enjoyable. Place is busy so ordering online and maybe 20mins ahead is recommended. During lunch hours this gets busy and there's long wait to place order.

Everything tasted kind of off? Ok for a late night option but would not go again.

The staff forgot my order and I waited 45 minutes for a simple sandwich. Not coming back for a while.

Conveniently located in FiDi and sharing the space with another eatery, Katsuya is a solid option for lunch or dinner. On my last visit I ordered online for pickup on my way home from my class. I arrived a bit early so it wasn't ready yet, but np - since it was near the end of the day there were plenty of seats inside to wait. There were a few people dining in, but even more coming through for takeout and delivery - staff were bustling about too, which is usually a good sign.

Prices seem to have gone up over the years (IIRC they used to be in a different location), but the portions are generous. My husband and I typically share a tonkatsu sando meal and it's still plenty for the both of us.

Great experience at Katsu-ya! The katsu was crispy on the outside and juicy on the inside. The staff were super friendly and attentive.

Went an hour before close for a late lunch. A couple of staff were working in the back. There was one other patron waiting for a to-go order. There were several DoorDash orders. We ordered a katsu sando and a chicken katsu sando set meal for dine-in at the kiosk up front. The dining area was being thoroughly cleaned (tables moved out of the way, chairs stacked up). We sat at a table that looked set (napkins, cutlery, spices), but moments later was told by staff that the dining room was closed and that they were only doing to-go orders. They asked if we wanted ours to-go, and since we were quite hungry, we accepted. That was an understandable, but awkwardly inhospitable restaurant experience. Please clearly indicate with a sign if the dining room is going to be closed. We had to park several blocks away.

The food came quickly, and we found a bench to eat at a block away. Miso soup was good, sandos were pretty tasty, the set meal additions were OK. The katsu sandos were tepidly warm. I'd have liked the sandos to have been hotter.

I ordered their Chicken Katsu Sando Meal and Cheese Ball. The bento box itself looks appealing, with sections for pickles, salads, sesame balls, and mac and cheese. The chicken katsu itself tasted alright, but its flavor was a bit plain. The mac and cheese was interesting since it had a wasabi taste that was a surprise.
