Food misses on mains. Garlic noodles was spaghetti pasta. Fish curry claimed sea bass but was cod
“Under the city's Health Care Security Ordinance, restaurants with 20 or more employees must contribute a certain minimum amount to cover their workers' health insurance — currently $2.34 an hour for all businesses with 20 to 99 employees, or $3.51 an hour for larger employers.”
So this restaurant charges a 5% fee to pass on those costs to the customers. Covering health insurance is part of the cost of business and if you’re unable to cover those costs then please don’t become a business owner.
Seating was a little tight and you could hear the conversations on either side of you like they were part of your table. Taking out one table would've created a little more space. It would've been more pleasant. For the cost of the meal, I would like a little more privacy.
My boyfriend and I went to Kayah this Saturday and was very disappointed. We made reservations for 3:45pm, our Uber was going to be late so we called 30 mins before to inform them we would be 5-10 mins late. Upon arrival, we were seated promptly. A waitress came and asked if we wanted water and anything else to drink. We requested water and 2 glasses of a rośe. A few minutes later the rośe arrived. As we sipped, we saw that the tables around us started to fill up. A gentlemen waiter went to them to get their orders, but no one came to us. We also saw how promptly they received their drinks and apps. Now, we thought ok, perhaps they are busy...40 minutes later still no acknowledgement. So we both got up and walked to the hostess, informed her what had happened and we told her we just wanted to pay for the drinks and leave. She apologized twice and said they got busy, but honestly that was not what we saw. We were disappointed in the service because we have been to Burma Love on more than one occasion and loved it, hence why we wanted to try Kayah.
We had a wonderful time. We were able to be seated early and where we wanted to sit.Food was delicious. Nur our waitress did a superb job of getting our food and drinks to us promptly. Thank you
Kayah by Burma Love is located at Thrive City adjacent to Chase Center, home of the NBA Golden State Warriors. It's a great place to grab dinner & drinks before a Warriors game! Kayah server Burmese street dishes (tea leaf salad, Roti Partha w/ peanut/chili dip, lollipop chicken, ..) and assume signature coaktails
Everything we ordered was very fresh and tasty: Veg Samusas, Rainbow Salad, Mango Chicken, and Fiery Tofu. It's a very cute restaurant located in the new Chase plaza. Totally recommend.
Ordered the platha + dip and it was underwhelming. The Bruma Love location is much better. The actual chicken curry was not good at all, . I will not eat at this location again.

My new favorite Burmese restaurant in the city. Great spacious and quiet atmosphere and solid food.

Great food and good vibe to eat in, especially before a Warriors game. Tables with the booths may be a little too close to each other and you can inadvertently bump into the people at the next table if you need to get up/out when crowded.
Restaurantji Recommends
Took a work group for lunch and it was great. The restaurant team was wonderful. Highly recommend the curry, tea leaf salad, and platha side.

Don’t usually leave negative reviews, but felt this experience was worth sharing in hopes it helps the restaurant improve. We paid $25 for the tea leaf salad, which unfortunately was mostly lettuce with very little flavor or dressing.
After sharing this concern with the staff, it wasn’t replaced or adjusted, which was disappointing. The green curry also fell short and was difficult to enjoy.
On a positive note, the salt and pepper tofu was excellent (5/5), and the LePhat skewers were also quite good.
There’s definitely potential here, but the restaurant could improve both the consistency and flavor of the dishes, as well as how the staff handles feedback. Overall, we left disappointed, especially given the high price point.
