Last night, to celebrate my birthday, my family brought me to dinner at Ken. Imagine if it had been my last meal on earth - I couldn't have asked for a better meal! What was it about the place that I liked so much? Unquestionably, the food was creative and exquisitely prepared. Undoubtedly, the fact that I was with my family, and the only other patrons in this sushi bar that only seats 7 was a friendly couple who had driven in from Sunnyvale, all contributed to the air of conviviality throughout the meal. Crucially, our interactions with the chef and the restaurant staff were professional but always infused with humanity. Perhaps the best way to end this review would be to borrow a word Chef used repeatedly to describe his food - balance. All was in balance last night, great food prepared with thought and care, large dollops of humanity, in a comfortable, convivial setting. My meal at Ken with my family and the couple from Sunnyvale, ranks mong the best I have had in my life to date(60+).

What an amazing omakase experience. The fish and rice were delicious, the mixture of flavors was superb, very well thought of. The presentation, the story behind it, the impecable service made our night very special.

Superb omakase experience. Each dish was unique and balanced. And the courses all flowed together and complemented each other nicely. And the chef created a really fun atmosphere. By the end of the night we felt like we had made friends and the other 5 diners at the counter with us. Very rare to find a restaurant that is this excellent without being pretentious and stuffy about it. Would highly recommend

Everything about the experience was top notch. We were welcomed in and made to immediately feel comfortable. Everyone, from the server to the sous chef to the chef himself, was warm and welcoming. We were guided through an exquisite tasting menu. Highly recommend this culinary experience!

By far the best and most memorable omakase experience I’ve ever had! The atmosphere, food, and storytelling came together to create a truly unforgettable evening.
Not only was it incredibly fun, but also educational. This is absolutely a must-visit spot, and I’ll be sure to come back every time I’m in San Francisco!

Chef Ken had a great assortment of fresh fish carefully selected and aged to perfection. I came when they first opened and the service and sequencing of courses has improved. If they have it, highly recommend chef’s preparation of the nodoguro. The service was appropriately timed, the staff was attentive, and the GM, Ryan, helped us pick the perfect sake. Would definitely recommend this spot for omakase in SF!

One of the best omakases I’ve had around the world. Achieved everything an experience like this should give and provide. Great pacing, great sushi, great conversation, great drinks, great setting, great chef.

It's a super cozy/small Omakase restaurant. 6 seats available at the counter so it's an intimate dining experience with the chef. Since he's worked at Kusakabe before, you know you'll be in good hands. Very fresh tasty cuts - highly recommend.
