As part of my new year resolution, I am going out of my comfort zone and trying new things. Today, I finally tried Kim Son. I live in the neighborhood and walked to the restaurant. They were at full capacity but quickly greeted me as I entered. I asked to place a takeout order and was given a menu. I decided on the #3 Beef Pho. I was quoted a 10 minute wait for my food. I waited outside and checked out the Balboa Theater a few doors down. I returned in exactly 10 minutes, and...
I was planning to come here several times and ended up here today. So far this place is the best among all that I have visited as a lover of Vietnamese soups. There was such a place on Irving, but after 35 years of business, it closed. And so I found the same quiet, unobtrusive place with good food. Look at this thick, flavorful soup - it's very good! I recommend.

No frills but looked busy with many locals enjoying their lunch! We both liked our food and would happily return!
There were signs indicating they only take MasterCard & Visa, so probably no AMEX here. Also, looked like they had a $10 minimum to use a credit card, but that's not really hard to meet.
