Very unremarkable for a michellin star. My expectations were high especially since SF has pretty good budget Thai options
Kin khao uses fancy ingredients in ordinary Thai dishes like the rabbit in their Thai curry. However, there isn't too much innovation in the dishes themselves. Moreover on a taste scale the food was average.
I had the famous pork belly. This was nice but not spectacular, the yaowarag noodle, the fried mitake red curry and a squid appetizer. The squid was well cooked and not rubbery, which you would expect at this price point.
Also has cocktails which were nice.
The decor is non existent, modern warehouse types. I much prefer kan kin or saap very damn good.
Might visit once more in case I ordered the wrong things

Had a dinner here in Mar 2026. Overall decent experience, but I’m not too keen on coming back anytime soon
+ Lovely service
+/- Good food. Tried the pork belly and squid and they are both solid, but overpriced for what they are imho
+ They can do half portion for most dishes, which was great for solo diners or if you just want to try out a bunch of dishes.
This restaurant lost its Michelin quality a long time ago. What remains is overpriced, poorly tasting food served in a painfully loud dining room by staff who look like they are being worked to the brink. Diners are essentially paying premium prices for a chaotic environment and food that rarely rises above basic home cooking.
The noise level alone made the experience exhausting. My partner and I could barely hear each other across the table the entire night. This was not the kind of lively buzz you expect from a busy restaurant. It was the kind of loud where you find yourself leaning across the table just to have a normal conversation.
The cocktails did not help matters. Both were so diluted that the alcohol could not be tasted. At this price point, a cocktail should at least taste like it contains alcohol.
The restaurant also appeared noticeably understaffed. The waiters looked overworked, bouncing between taking orders and hurriedly wiping down tables. It created an atmosphere that felt rushed and disorganized rather than polished.
We ordered the cauliflower in XO sauce (main dish), Gang Som Pla (starter), two cocktails, and a side of duck eggs with jasmine rice. The results were honestly egregiously baffling.
The cauliflower in XO sauce arrived looking bleak and stayed true to its appearance. There was essentially no XO sauce, no spice, and very little seasoning. Just plain roasted cauliflower with sautéed onions and garlic sitting underneath, as if they had also been confused about their role in the dish.
The Gang Som Pla (mackerel), priced around $40, was somehow both sparse and forgettable. The fish was dry, the flavors were flat, and the spices felt randomly scattered rather than thoughtfully composed. The only strong note was a lingering fishy aftertaste, which unfortunately was not the intended highlight.
The best thing we ate all night were the side of jasmine rice and duck eggs, and the duck eggs were literally just boiled with salt. When the highlight of a Michelin-associated meal is a bowl of plain rice and eggs, that probably tells you everything you need to know.
I am generally very fair with my reviews and rarely leave negative ones, but this experience genuinely felt scammy and like a waste of money. If you have a good palate for food, I would not recommend this place.

I’m almost at a loss for words describing our experience at Kin Khao. We were blown away by the incredible quality and depth of flavors in every dish. As a vegetarian, I especially appreciated the thoughtfulness and care they put into making sure I had amazing options. And the customer service was truly exceptional—it’s the kind of place that doesn’t just serve great food, but creates an unforgettable experience.

*Be warned: not anywhere close to Michelin quality*
The food was… fine. Nowhere near Michelin star quality. Clearly, Hilton has paid Michelin to give this place a star.
The food was one note, a few good dishes but mostly bland, take out quality. There was no wine tasting menu. A good portion of the food is just rice and sauce.
The atmosphere was not updated and extremely loud. I could barely hear the person across from me.
The most disappointing part was the service. While initially nice enough, our server had no knowledge of the wine or food. On top of this, we had were forced out. While we were still sitting, we were brought our check, payment processed, and they removed the check from the table without once asking us how the meal was. This is some of the worst service I’ve had period, much less at a restaurant that charges Michelin prices.
Please, go somewhere else with your time and money. This restaurant needs to lose its Michelin star or improve its quality so more people don’t waste their valuable dinner dates on an extremely disheartening experience.

I love Thai food. This place tried to be different and just missed the mark for me. Sorry guys, traditional Thai is just better.

Thought this place was fine. Flavors were disappointing but worth trying. Got the following items with asterisks to indicate what I enjoyed:
- mushroom hor mok
- spicy wings*
- khao soi
I’ve been coming to Kin Khao for a while now, and it never fails to impress. The food is consistently great, but my favorite is the Massaman curry. Perfect balance of flavors every time. If you're craving Thai food, this is the place to be!

Very interesting Michelin star Thai restaurant. For dinner they offer prefixed menu and order to share menu. Three of us ordered two appetizers, two main dishes and could not finish. Appetizers are very generous portions, hot chicken wings are delicious. The highlight of dinner is the pork belly, it melts in the mouth, the flavor is great, not feeling heavy at all. Beef is very nice too. We ordered black rice pudding as dessert, it is a little bit too sweet. The service is very attentive, when we got seated, there is a handwritten card for our occasion which is very nice! The dining environment is cozy. My only complaint is that when they bring the dish over, they do not explain the details of the dish, that is what I expect from Michelin star.

This is a restaurant I would definitely go back to order different dishes. The most amazing dishes were:
🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟Plah pla muek: shrimp; served with sticky rice
🌟🌟🌟Stir-fried baby bok choy;
🌟🌟🌟Pad Kee Mao;
The wait time was about 45 minutes. To use the restroom, simply get a card from the front desk; it allows access to the restrooms in the hotel lobby.
