Kio Ramen is consistently excellent, the food quality is always the same and always great. It’s a small family-run spot, so service can take a bit longer, but it’s worth the wait. The food and service are warm, genuine, and never disappoint

Very disappointing and too salty vegan miso "Black garlic Ramen". Husband found the chicken in his Kio ramen poorly cooked too.
Hidden gem with delicious ramen. Highly recommend the black garlic ramen, but all of them are great. We bring our 3 year old and order him a side of noodles with an egg - perfect kids size option.

Good food for a small place. Unagi is jumbo-er than expexted, which is nice.

Kio Ramen on Balboa Street is an absolute gem in the Outer Richmond! The Pork House Ramen was nothing short of perfection—rich, savory broth with tender, flavorful pork that hit all the right notes. Pairing it with their house red wine was a surprisingly fantastic choice that elevated the meal even further.
Parking was surprisingly accessible for San Francisco, which already puts this spot ahead of many others. The staff was incredibly friendly, creating an atmosphere that was both lighthearted and welcoming. It felt like the perfect cozy stop to fuel up with a homey, comforting meal before heading out to soak in the breathtaking views this area is known for.
One tip though—if you’re like me, using chopsticks might turn into a fun little noodle adventure. Let’s just say the ramen was so good, even my chopsticks didn’t want to let go! Five stars, without a doubt!

Chicken katsu was perfect. Light. Not greasy. Excellent cut of chicken. Perfect plate. Sweet, no fuss atmosphere, great meal.

Casual spot. Staff was friendly and never felt rushed even though we arrived towards the end of the evening and near closing hour.
We tried a seafood ramen dish, sashimi poke, and oysters.
Food was fulfilling.

Too salty, weird soup base, slow food preparation. Sandwich is okay, tonkatsu a bit greasy, ramen on the salty and greasy side as well.

Food is tasty bit not the best I ever had.
When I ate takoyaki in Japan they always had actual pieces of octopus in the balls, here there weren't. Not a big deal but a bit of a bummer.
The ramen was good. The service was good. Was kids friendly, we asked for just soup with noodles for the kids since they don't eat the vegetables and meat and they were nice to accommodate that no problem. My son finished the whole bowl. If you are around definitely stop by
Kid-friendliness: Chicken katsu with rice is very kid friendly dish and we asked for just soup with noodles without everything else and they were happy to prepare it.

Large portions and good flavor. Note, standard disclaimer for Japanese restaurants: I got the Kio Special Ramen ?️?️, order it extra spicy and it was medium at best. Definitely still enjoyable to eat though. Unusual for me, but the egg was actually really good, like the best egg I've ever had.
