In San Francisco for one night and wanted some great sushi and we lucked out finding this gem of a place. We grabbed a reservation which I highly recommend since it was packed. We sat at the sushi bar with a great view to watch them work their magic. I got the jackalope which was recommended by our sever and it was so good and I also ordered the Fresco which was also really yummy. My husband got sashimi of all kinds and loved it all. We also got a seaweed salad which was great too.

Very tasty sushi spot with fresh fish. The atmosphere is cozy, careful about what you order because it may be a bit too cozy and hard to fit more than 4 dishes on a table for 2.

I'm by no means a sushi expert, but this is one of the tastiest sushi restaurants in the city! They have a dedicated gluten free menu, which makes life so easy as a Coeliac.

this place is so good. had reservations and they sat us immediatelyyyyyy, who doesn’t love that. great rolls with the freshest fish and super attentive staff.
small place that’s great for date night cause they don’t blast the damn music. prime for eavesdropping on the people’s conversations next to you. fun game to guess whether the people next to you are on a first/ second/ third/ date and speculating what dating app they met on! love this place

Ordered a $100 worth of sushi. Waited 1.5 hours, then the restaurant canceled. Horrible service.

Truly excellent sushi restaurant. The traditional nigiri are excellent - perfect fish quality, well balanced seasoning. “Fusion” dishes are available too if you want them - I tried the pineapple roll out of curiosity and although it wasn’t to my taste I can see that some people would enjoy it.

Don’t know if host/server was having a bad day but he wasn’t very friendly. Frankly a bit rude that killed our experience.

Excellent sushi! Delicious combination of flavors and the fish was very fresh and melted in the mouth. Generous portions of fish. The service was very attentive and professional.

The miso soup was very light and delicious. Recommend the aburi (torched) nigiri as well.

We’ve been coming to Kuma for years and it’s hands down our favorite Japanese spot. Chef Man is the best—he always serves super fresh fish with the perfect balance of flavor. What I love is that you can still really taste the fish itself, not just the sauce. At some other places the marinades are too strong, but Kuma keeps it more traditional and just right.

The staff are always so friendly, and the restaurant has a cozy, comfortable vibe. Great for a casual lunch or even a nice date night. Always a great experience here!
