Gave La Mar another try. Piso Sour was on point. Appetizers were tasty and well presented.

Food was good, ordered the chefs tasting course meal , service was ok , previous experience was better , nice ambiance , but was notified by one the employees that one of the heater was not working because it will turn off and just gas comes out but earlier went asked to turn them on they turned so we were exposed to gas for a little bit

I had high expectations for this restaurant, I came with 7 others, we all ordered the restaurant week. It was okay, my ceviche and taro chips were very good. My lomo saltado was okay, I really liked the rice, and my drink which was the pisco was alright. I gave this place 2 stars because of the service and the food being overall 7/10, our server wasn't the nicest, he seemed annoyed most of the time. Not only that but we waited a long time and almost felt forgotten about. It was my birthday and maybe I picked the wrong time but I didn't think a Sunday afternoon would be that busy. The server asked to take our picture at the end but the picture came out really bad and I didn't want to ask for another since he was passively coming by and then running off. I work in the restaurant industry and what workers tend to forget is that as customers we are coming out and spending money, money that we work hard for. I probably won't be coming back because I don't feel like this restaurant is worth it. I could have went to Limon and had better service. Everyone seemed annoyed in there and they weren't even that busy. The hostess was the nicest person and the girl who walked us over to the table so coming in I was excited but leaving I wasn't impressed.

Good food and ambience, tried Peruvian for the first time and we loved it as vegetarians

Celebrated my friend's birthday on Friday at a beautiful place. The food and drinks were okay, but the service was very friendly.

Best peruvian food I've had. Everything was out of this world. The croquetas were different than I expected but better than I would imagine, best of the best. Food was worth every dollar. Service really set the example of professionalism and just the best.

Came here for restaurant week and had a nice time! We sat outside with the heaters which gave us a great view of the waterfront. We ordered off the restaurant week menu (3 courses) and I got the ceviche, lomo saltada, and tres leche. The portions were a bit small but the flavors were on point. I especially enjoyed the ceviche and tres leche. The tres leche was one of the best desserts at a restaurant I've had in a really long time! it was perfectly moist and creamy and the addition of the strawberry jam made it stand out. The restaurant itself is beautiful and service is amazing - our waiter Luis was very attentive and welcoming.

Visited here during SF Restaurant week since La Mar offered a set meal for $40 (what a steal!). My partner and I got two set meals to share so we could try a good amount of everything. What we ordered: - Taro Chips and Dip: The Taro chips were so addicting... it was light, and so crunchy. The green dip paired really well. - Cebiche Clasico: This appetizer was delicious! stole the show. The fish was fresh, not fishy at all and it was very lime-y (in a good way). My partner and I agreed this was the best dish out of the ones we chose. - Nigiri Bachiche: I originally thought this was a fish nigiri... I think I read wrong since the nigiri is actually a roasted tomato. I thought this was flavorful, but I wouldn't have gotten this if I knew it wasn't seafood. - Lomo Saltado: Yum, so flavorful! This is a good dish if you don't know what to order or want a hearty dish. The beef was well cooked, and the potatoes were okay- not crispy. - Pulpo: This came with an entire octopus leg with kabocha squash locro, which paired so well with each other. My favorite part of this dish was eating the pulpo with the fried fava beans. It gives a chewy but crunchy texture to it, it was so yummy. - Tres Leche: Despite being soooo full from my meal, the tres leche was very light and great to end the meal! Not too sweet but the cake was very moist from the milk, and had a spongey texture.

The place is decorated and furnished well. It's a comfortable place to sit and relax while enjoying there variety of stunning cocktails.

La Mar truly exceeded all expectations! The food was not only incredibly fresh but also bursting with authentic Peruvian flavors. The ambiance added an extra layer of coziness to our dining experience, making it truly memorable. A big shoutout to Josh, our amazing waiter, for making our friend's birthday celebration extra special with a surprise cake and Polaroid picture. If you're in San Francisco and craving Peruvian cuisine, La Mar is an absolute must-visit!

Probably it's too busy that receptionist isn't accommodating, we went there for dinner and she even gave me the face that she couldn't hear me instead of saying It in respectable manner, she seems agitated. I just didn't wanna leave because it was raining. It isn't good to start in a place with that kind of service. I was even the one chosen that place to bring my friends and it was a mistake. I'd rather go somewhere else with better service so the food will taste better as well. Bye Lamar.
