All the food seemed a bit overcooked. Caesar salad was drenched in dressing; I would order dressing on the side. Cheese in the French onion soup was granular, not melt; my friend ordered scrambled eggs instead of sunny side up for her crepe but we couldn't find any egg. Waiter said it was scrambled into the crepe. ??? Crème fraiche on the crepe was heavy like the dressing in the Caesar - again, order it on the side. Wait staff was stand-offish with little congeniality. Best...
Had the most lovely late lunch at Bistro La Chaumière. I ordered the Caesar salad and prawns, and both were absolutely delicious. The service was also fantastic, my server paid very close attention to me and was both respectful and very kind. I will be coming back again soon, I recommend to everyone! :)
It was kind of sad, to be honest. We were the only people in the restaurant, and they couldn't server us profiteroles because they had run out of ice cream. The Brussels sprout dish was good, interesting and exceeded my expectation. But the steak au poivre was disappointing. The sauce is key to that dish, and it was thin and lacked the richness that I expect. Too bad because San Francisco is in desperate need of better options for French cuisine.
