Genuinely hurts my tooth on the giant stem left in the Chile rellano burrito I ordered. Literally the only extra step in making this dish (taking 2 seconds to cut out the singe stem) was completely ignored by the Monday night staff. Could have choked or fully broken a tooth.

Adding insult to injury (literally) the Monday night team (not the usual people) tried to charge for extra cheese twice for a pinch of shredded cheese. (One $1+ charge for extra cheese was expected, twice was improper).

Will be avoiding this convenient neighborhood place on Monday nights moving forward. In my experience the usual staff is much much better, responsibly removing the stems and charging properly according to their menu.

Whilst in Castro I decided to change things up and came for some Tacos! The lady that served me and helped me choose my ingredients was friendly, and the food was delicious! I especially loved sitting outside outside the restaurant, taking in the atmosphere, listening to the Mexican music, and drinking a bottle of Coke imported from Mexico!

This place is wonderful, the staff is great, the food is good and quick service, and the prices are so reasonable! A good friendly spot and a great place to sit and run into neighbors.

Este lugar es racista y homofobico a pesar de estar en un area gay. Pesimo servicio, trate de ordenar tacos pero el señor y la señora que estaban atendiendo fueron super rudos. No lo recomiendo. Su menú tampoco luce autentico.
This place is racist and homophobic even though it is in the Castro District/gay area. The people taking the order and the cashier were entitled, rude, and mean with a couple of gay men before us, and later on with my girlfriend and me. I know you are a busy restaurant, but you don't need to be mean. I don’t recommend it at all, and it does not look like authentic Mexican food either—worst place in the whole area.

My go-to Mexican spot in the Castro. I’ve been coming here for months and have never had a bad time with the food or service. Good quality food and good taste.
I think their customer service could be a little better, but they’re not unfriendly by any means.

Charged me 10$ for a side of guacamole because I wanted it on the side not inside the food.

I have been enjoying the food at La Tortilla for decades. Their burritos really ARE super! The staff are friendly and efficient. They always seem to be open when I have a craving for delicious Mexican food. SInce I live so close by I often get my order to go, but it's fun to sit at the window and watch the world go by on Castro Street.

Don’t try to add anything, or they’ll charge you ridiculously.

As basic as you can get, better if you've been drinking. Mom and pop shop, I know they work hard and long hours but not a big fan of the meat. Prices are affordable and portions are decent. I do wish them the best.
