Ordered a small soup but was charged for a medium. Server couldn’t adjust on the POS but she assured me that she had previously told the owner about the issue. This is wrong in so many ways: 1. POS is not the same as the menu so clients can be overcharged 2. The customer facing staff has no authority to make even the smallest decisions to fix an obvious customer service problem 3. The owner knows of a problem that results in customers being overcharged but does nothing to fix it Best of luck if you decide to go there. Watch what you’re being charged. I won’t be back.

Quick easy lunch spot with a good variety. Staff is always friendly.

The menu board clearly states "Allowed one substitution per salad." When I requested my ONE substitution for avocado in place of the apple, I was sharply told that it would be an extra charge. When I pointed out that the menu board behind them didn't say anything about "premium" or "non-premium" items and I wasn't requesting a protein, they huffed. They then said that they would make the substitution this time. I thanked them paid $35 for TWO Brussels, Kale & Quinoa salads. Onboard when I went to eat my salads, I found no avocado and the apple that I didn't want. They lied and did nothing but take my money. It was a good salad. If they weren't going to substitute the avocado, then I would have requested something else. But they lied and I never had that choice. Apparently, lying to customers who they don't ever expect to see again and take their money is the way that they do business.

With 3 hours to kill, we set off for the food court recommended by a pilot we asked and looked at our options. We decided to "be healthy" after a 10-day cruise and were rewarded with amazing food! The Good Catch Vegan Manhattan Seafood Chowder and Tortilla soup were both amazing and the Cabo salad was hearty enough for us to share and not feel deprived in any way. Of course, we then justified a couple of chocolate chip cookies for dessert-LOL. I now hope we have a reason to get back there again.

I'm not a creature of habit. Just ask Jamie W. However, a few years back, I did make exception for the Mexican Tortilla Soup at San Francisco Soup Company which I used to eat with alarming frequency. But then they turned into the tritely named Ladle & Leaf, and despite going the preferable direction of salad and grain bowls, it kinda lost me. Maybe it was just the irritatingly illiterative name. They still have the Mexican Tortilla Soup, but I guess I've moved on dietically. We all do, don't we? Anyway, this is the closest one to the office, and it is pretty convenient for an in-and-out set-up as they have a crew of industrious women who crank out the bowls. First time out, I tried the $9.95 Riced Cauliflower & Artichoke Hummus Bowl, which I knew was too good to be true with quinoa, feta, toasted pumpkin seeds, and a pomegranate vinaigrette (photo: bit.ly/32ovgPf ). It came in at a whopping 530 calories. I went for a seasonal salad next time out, the $12.50 Vietnamese Spring Pea & Chicken Salad. It struck me as pricey for the quantity, but it was a fresher lunch option (photo: bit.ly/37HZrlf ). Today, I ordered the $12.50 Autumn Harvest Salad, which actually was quite abundant with kale (massaged, no less), free-range chicken, roasted sweet potato, Granny Smith apples, feta & toasted pumpkin seeds with a curry maple vinaigrette on the side (photo: bit.ly/2SK3CZu ). Good but not a wow. Maybe I should go back to the Mexican Tortilla Soup. FOOD - 3 stars...all bowls, all the time, suitable but unexceptional AMBIANCE - 3 stars...basically a kiosk on the edge of Justin Herman Plaza SERVICE - 4 stars...they're a hard-working crew TOTAL - 3 stars...that name RELATED - Hanging on the Embarcadero? Healthy Bites! This location of Ladle & Leaf offers a very healthy option for all those who wish to grab and run! The store is small and has no room to sit, but on a good weather day there are plenty of tables and seats outside in Justin Herman Plaza that one can sit, eat and enjoy the weather, or there are a few tables inside Embarcadero One that could offer a shelter if it is raining, windy or just too sunny to sit out. Their breakfast menu offers plenty of healthy option, but it is their lunch menu that usually attracts me. I really like their soups and Grain Bowls. Their Persian Turmeric and Golden Beets bowl is one that I like a bit more than the rest. If you wish to have more than soup, salad , or Grain Bowl, check out the sandwich menu. You are likely to find one of their eight or nine sandwiches a perfect solution for an empty stomach!

At One California location today at 1 pm they were out of everything I wanted: Diet Coke, Tuna Sandwich, Pumpkin Soup. Tortilla soup was pretty good. They seem to have a problem keeping things in stock.

Beware of this particular location. They are disorganized and a little all over the place. The staff like to laugh and gossip really loud in spanish the entire time they are working. This is also the only location that hides their bread and only provides it when the customer asks for it. A piece of bread is included in every soup order. But they keep it all behind the counter out of sight's view. You have to ask for it when you pick up your soup for them to give it to you. Every other L&L location has the bread out in the open for everyone to help themselves prior to paying. A little shady that they are hiding free bread that is included in your order.

I enjoyed their vegetarian salad. One could also get it with chicken but I opted not too. Doctors recommend that one eats 4 to 10 cups of vegetable/salad greens each day. Their salads are so huge one could accomplish the 8 to 10 cups just by eating their entire salad. I could not, as the salad was huge so of course enough for another salad lunch. Prices were reasonable - under $10.00. and my beverage of choice of course is water - so had that with the healthy salad. One orders at the counter.

I have stopped here for lunch several times and they are always fast and fresh. I had chicken noodle soup on my most recent visit and it was very good as usual. I ordered a small cup which is plenty for lunch, especially because of the big piece of sourdough bread you get with your order. Their selection of soup changes regularly and the salads are really good too.
