Enjoyed the pistachio cake and chickpea puff the most, but all of their food items are nice.

Easily one of the best cafes in town. Everything is fantastic, their coffees which they serve with a piece of halva, chocolate cake, coffee cake, babkas, Turkish cream pie.

The chocolate babka was transcendent! I wasn't quite as enthusiastic about the chickpea tarragon bourekas.
Parking is a nightmare, as you probably already expect in San Francisco. But the shop is worth it - so cute and welcoming. The staff behind the counter were lovely.

Great little spot that has evolved into Loquat. If you blink, you’ll miss it, but that’s why it’s so special. Come in for a quick coffee, but stay for the pastries and hideout.

I went in here to get one thing, but asked the counter person what her favorite was and she said the lemon rosemary tart with no hesitation. So, I ditched plan A and went with the lemon rosemary tart. I’m glad I did. It was so silky and the rosemary was not overpowering which tends to happen more often than I’d like.
Good service, great tart, quaint and cozy inside. (The inside didn’t change much from the previous shop, 20th Century Cafe.)

Detail review below.

Food:
I’ve had their mahlab and mocha cake at The Mill before and they were dry and I rate them 3/5. Thinking that the main location would perhaps be better, tried their poppy seed walnut babka, chickpea boureka, tahini chocolate cookie. The dry story continues with the rest of their pastries although the boureka was decent. Do not think they are on par with the top SF bakeies like the other reviews suggest. My cappucino was ok however my friends’ black coffees were room temperature and weak. I wouldn’t go again especially after the service that we’ve received.

Service:
I noticed that the babka was taken out of the display onto a plate and was being placed on the counter. So, as soon as our server placed the plate on the counter, I asked if it could be warmed up. I was then told, that due to cross contamination they can’t take it and warm it up. The person literally had just placed it, there wasn’t enough time for me to even touch the plate and neither was I hovering over the food. Also, there was a large tray on donuts with no lid on, in front of the counter, open to passersby’s germs to fall all over. Isn’t that cross contamination? This wasn’t logical at all. The condescending attitude was not appreciated.

Vibe: Very cute cafe/ bakery, ceramics were nicely done and apparently done by a local artist based out of Mexico.

As a New Yorker, it pains me to say this is the best babka I’ve had at a bakery.

Very rude service. We were disrespectfully scolded for looking for a table before ordering when there was one person ordering ahead of us. There were 3 tables open so we were not grabbing the last table or anything, and we were carrying a kid that was cold who wanted to sit. Can’t comment on the food because I don’t give my money to rude businesses.

Absolutely outstanding pastries. Bit of wait for a table unfortunately.

Forget all the other bakeries this is number one in San Francisco. It lives under the hype, but it’s above the rest. No long lines or fancy croissants. Loquat is the real deal. The make some serious cakes. They are not messing around.

Was disappointed they were all out of babkas at 2pm. I tried the banana date cake and it was really good. The mocha barely had a taste of chocolate and I did not quite like it. I also ordered it with oat milk and saw the barista making it with whole. I think that’s not okay.
Not bad but wont be back.

One of my favorite coffee shops in SF to catch up with friends. Coffee is good and the baked goods are delicious - especially the cookies

Recently, we ordered and prepaid for a birthday cake at Loquat. Unfortunately, a family emergency occurred and the party was immediately canceled.

We contacted the store and requested a refund or store credit for a future time. There was some communication issues with local staff at first, however, later the owner Tal reached out.

Tal was professional, empathic, and took actions to resolve our issues. Resulting in a refund.

We appreciate how the encounter ended with a positive outcome.

This is the benefit of working with local owned businesses.
