Best Italian restaurant in city for food quality, including meat and fish, noise level, hospitality, and price

Overall all eight of us enjoyed the ambience while we had a wonderful experience with the staff. Which create a wonderful service. And the meals and treats were excellent.

Dining solo here felt like a personal offense--specifically to the tall server with dark hair and glasses. Despite the restaurant being nearly empty, he initially refused to let me move to a better table and only allowed it after unnecessary resistance. A bizarre power move in an empty dining room. From there, service was abysmal. Long stretches of being ignored, a rude and dismissive attitude when he did appear, and zero follow-through on the basics. I had to remind him twice about the wine I ordered, ask multiple times for cheese and pepper, and ultimately flag down the busser for a box and my check. If I hadn't intervened, I'm convinced I'd still be waiting. It's a shame, because the food was genuinely good and the restaurant itself is a charming little Italian spot in Noe Valley. Unfortunately, good food can't compensate for service that makes guests feel unwelcome. Hospitality here seems optional. If solo diners aren't welcome, just say that. I won't be back

It was fine - seems like a good spot for the neighborhood regulars, but not amazing.

Excellent meal from start to finish. Staff were attentive and friendly. Pacing and coursing of the meal was perfect. Ingredients were fresh and the flavors were fantastic. Each dish exceeded expectations. Will definitely be back here on a regular basis.

The lasagna was tender and a mild flavor. The pork chop with fennel, chard and roasted potatoes was good.

Lupe Trattoria is a great dining experience. The food is excellent. My dinner guest said that her calamari dish was the best she had ever had. I am addicted to their lasagna!

Erika

The veal scaloppine was delicious, and I appreciated that they have grilled instead of fried calamari. Atmosphere is fine but nothing special.

Great service & friendly atmosphere. Many locals and return customers were dining or came by to say hi. Food was well timed and delicious. Good portion size. Wine list was unique and affordable. Definitely a place to go.
