This is such a great place to grab lunch. I work from home and usually eat leftovers but there are times when there is no leftovers and I like to walk over to AK subs. I usually get the Philly cheesesteak and it just warms the soul. The price for the subs here is great and this place has a lot of regulars that keep on coming because of the subs and prices. The Philly costs about 13 dollars and you can't find that kind of deal in the city. They also are on doordash if it's to far to walk. I will be going back and I recommend this place to everyone who is looking for good lunch deals.

If at all, do it for the pastrami!!!!!! My gahhhhhh! My mouth is in flavor heaven and so simple but a burst of joy on the palate! I ordered Tony's hot pastrami on sweet French roll. Had it with mayo and spicy mustard and added pickles! When it arrived it was still warm, bread was soft on the inside with a light crunch on the outside. It was packed with flavor and packed with meat! It even had a cheese pull! I was so excited I forgot to take a picture. I ordered through Grubhub and it got here real quick. Next time I'll add some pepperocini or jalapeño for an added kick!

I had been a long-time customer of AK Subs going back close to 15 years. The owner who works the register recognizes me when I come in. On the last day I patronized AK Subs I had an hour for lunch and happened to be in the area. It was a weekday. There were a few customers inside but not the kind of crowd that they used to have before the pandemic. I ordered a pastrami sandwich which she called out to the sandwich maker who I had seen pretty much every time I had ever been there. He got a few other orders at the same time and evidently got swamped even though it was like 4 sandwiches total. I sat and waited an excessive amount of time, over 20 minutes, to the point where I thought about leaving. I went up and asked where my food was, and she told me it was coming. I waited longer. By then it had been about half an hour. Finally, my name was called. I went up to get my sandwich and it was the wrong sandwich with cold cuts instead of pastrami and not hot. I told her I got the wrong sandwich and she apologized. The sandwich maker gave me an angry look. I was about to leave but she told me no problem, they can rush out the correct order. I relented and said okay, I'll stay. Another 15 minutes went by and still my name was never called. I felt stupid that I had waited that long but by then I was very hungry. She asked the sandwich maker about it who again gave me angry look. He told her that he never started making it. I still had no food after 45 minutes. I couldn't have stayed any longer even if I had wanted to. I told her how I had wasted my whole hour, the entirety of the time I had to eat for the whole day. She refunded my money and offered me an apple as compensation. I felt like she should have offered me a free sandwich or something for wasting my whole lunch hour and leaving me hungry. I also didn't appreciate the hostile attitude. I had also previously seen her husband who works in the kitchen acting angrily on more than one occasion. Considering the service and hostility, I no longer recommend AK Subs.

My favorite place in San Francisco. Their chili on Mondays is to die for. Outstanding sandwiches as well including a massive hot pastrami! My mouth is watering just thinking about what to have for lunch.

Pretty good pastrami sandwiches! Found this spot on Doordash. I love that they don't skimp on the pickles and meat. The pastrami was good quality and well-seasoned; not too salty. The bread wasn't amazing though. I got Tony's Hot Pastrami on rye. It was difficult to bite since the bread was really tough. Overall, a decent pastrami - but not worth the hefty price. If I come back, I'd get the same sandwich on different bread.

AK Subs. Stands for excellence in food and service. Small family business. Great value. Better food. I have posted about their wonderful sandwiches. I always get the seeded rolls. But today it's about the perfectly made omelette. Side of toast. It's a thing of beauty see attached photo..chris and terry run a nice business.

I ordered the pastrami and Swiss jalapeño lettuce onion mustard toasted on a roll. This was excellent. The competition in SF is insane but AK subs are legit. The large scale order on the app was perfect. Thanks.

Great hot pastrami sandwich on rye. Other sandwiches would be better with a better bread roll.

I really don't want to post about my good experiences for selfish reasons, with AK Subs from the TooGoodToGo app. But good lawd. I have now been here twice, I'm loving it, and the fact that i'm helping to eliminate food waste is just a bonus. Thanks for being good to me AK!

Omelette was ok if you start to build it up how you want the price's raises significantly

One of the best hot pastrami sandwiches around. Even through I've tried nearly everything on their menu, it's the pastrami sandwich that keeps bringing me back. Service is always friendly and great. This was a twice a week spot for me when I worked in the area. Since the pandemic, I've been working in the peninsula but have gone out of my, when I can, do drive down to the city and get that sandwich.

Had never heard of this place before but I was craving a good burger and/or cheesesteak so I ordered pick up! We live nearby in Hayes Valley so it was easy.We got the burger, added avocado, and the philly with added mushrooms. Also got a side of fries and a smoothie.Everything was good, the cheesesteak def stood out, it had provolone but also some other sort of cheese or sauce that was white and tasted heavenly! The burger was also solid, cooked a perfect medium rare with good flavor and a good bun. Needed sauce tho. Only thing that wasn't great were the fries. They were close to closing so maybe that's why but they tasted like they'd been sitting out for 3 hours and reheated before serving. Just not good. I'm sure they're better fresh tho.

These sandwiches are the best! For breakfast I'd suggest getting the avocado toast with bacon on top and then add an egg. For lunch get the turkey club on sliced sourdough.

Love their sandwiches! Very fresh & tasty. I order these sandwiches for our monthly staff lunch meetings; they're always quick & efficient. Always willing to support mom&pop shops!
