Sushi was very good, the spider roll was a bit large and had a lot of rice, but tasted great. Service was very nice and the skewer was good too.Area was a bit sketchy and some strange odors were wafting in from outside…

Service was great, friendly and efficient. The sushi was just alright ...fresh, only a bit small portions. Prices are just average, aligned with the area. Quiet, chill atmosphere for a weekend at lunchtime. Easy to get to, new muni T line on the island outside.

Had some small dish and a beer when passing by. Very comfortable and cozy little place. Offering some tasty seafood options. The beer selection is great. Sake, only hot sake option. The fried chicken is not so good thought.I’ll be back for the $25/hr unlimited sake and beer with my friends. That’s just too good a deal to pass by!

Wonderful sushi! We tried two different Uni Shiso hand rolls, what an experience, several different fatty nigiri, and a few different rolls. The nigiri and the rolls were 40% off regular price with the "Happy Hour" special they have going for the rest of the month. I believe the happy hour is from 3-7 on the days they're open, but please check with the restaurant. (We will also be coming back to try some more fish feastings before the special is over.) The Hamachi Lime Roll was my favorite! Our experience was very lovely, thank you to our waiter who let us know about the 40% deal! They were also very kind and answered all of our questions about the food.

My partner were visiting on vacation and had the edamame, a California roll, and two signature rolls. Everything was delicious and you could tell it was extremely fresh. The ambience was perfect for a date or catching up with a friend because you could actually hear each other talk over the pleasant music. The service was great - friendly and prompt. They brought us little samples of a couple sake cocktails, as well. We would definitely go back!

We came here to try out their very affordable chef selection omakase and it’s alright. Good service, fish quality can be improved. If you need quick sushi-crave fix this will do the job.

Had a wonderful experience Sunday evening with very kind staff and flavorful food. We had the 10 piece omakase that came with a handroll, miso soup, skewers, and dessert. It was a great value and the fish was fresh and flavorful. The oyster shooters were a fun addition. Highly recommend if you're in the area; would come again. ?

It is a bit pricey, but considering the location and the taste, it can be justified. The service is hard to describe, probably understaffed. We have to call for water, ask for wasabi and ginger, and we ordered 7 pieces of nigiri, 5was served first, and had to wait for another 20min plus to ask for the check to get the remaining 2 pieces.

We ordered a few small dishes to share and everything was quite good! The crab salad was very refreshing, the marinated cod was small but so tender and well seasoned. Also do get their skewers, we got one of their beef ones and it was delicious!

Quality fish, rice was perfect. Small low light setting with not too many seating. A tad on the pricier side but worth the higher quality.

What I appreciated most about Machiya was the service and attentiveness of staff here— you could want for nothing more in a dining experience!! My water glass was constantly filled, staff asked throughout my meal if everything was ok and if I needed anything. Fish was very fresh, menu was diverse including featured specials of fresh special sashimi offerings like any great sushi place would have, fried squid was fresh made to order, takowasabi was generous. Plating was thoughtful and precise. Care is taken at every step here. Visited during the week around 6pm, place filled up but still was able to accommodate a family with a stroller tableside. Bathrooms were also very clean and pleasant which is a great sign of somewhere that takes pride in their business. Thank you Machiya for the meticulous and wonderful dinner! I will be back again soon!

The Omikase is delightful. Their attention to detail made for a magical experience. My partner and I love this place. Their fish selection is on par with the other high end sushi places. Munk fish liver was a surprise and melted in my mouth. I promise you won’t be disappointed.

Wow, what a great find. High quality fish at very reasonable prices. We had the blackened albacore tuna and dragon rolls. Both excellent, especially the tuna, which has a savory slightly garlicky flavor. The wakame seaweed salad has proper kelp rather than that cheap chopped stuff most sushi restaurants offer. They also had a really good Japanese wheat beer, Echigo, which was quite good. Even the mochi ice cream was good. My only criticism is that most of the specialty rolls were spicy which I don’t like, but otherwise we will definitely be back. ?

Amazing food and super nice ambiance. The nigiri and rolls as well as the seared salmon appetizer was amazing. Highly recommend! Please check it out and support this small business!

Awesome restaurant. The fish was so fresh. The signature rolls were great and the special nigiri were too. Some of the best sawara I've had. I hope this place becomes more popular, because it's one of the best sushi spots in the city. Please support this business!
