Not regular donuts. This is a hard, stale, bread-like bun with frosting. Way overpriced

Been wanting to try these donuts for awhile — not only are they INCREDIBLY instagrammable, but the sourdough spin on a donut makes them an obvious homage to SF.
We picked up half a dozen for a party and they were an instant hit — our friends loved the novelty and unique flavors (such as “blueberry and lime” and “campfire s’mores”), and they were big enough to cut into smaller bites for everyone to try.
The chewy texture leans less towards a typical baked dessert and more towards regular bread, which actually balances out the intensely sweet and decadent toppings really well.
The first notable downside is the price — I get that the donuts are high quality, but nearly $40 for a half-dozen donuts made this a one-time experience for us. We also picked up a coffee to go, and despite the cute as hell espresso machine, the coffee was below average. I just can’t see myself motivated to go out of my to come back.
The second downside was the presence of flies inside the donut case — we came in the afternoon and understand that flies can get in even the cleanest of spaces, but these big flies were landing all over the donuts. We had to ask the server to switch out a strawberry donut when she grabbed one that the flies had been on, and she didn’t seem too happy about the request.
Overall, if you’re looking for something fun and unique, this is a great place to try — but I wouldn’t plan on making it a regular haunt.

Love the dough! Not too heavy. Toppings are good flavour wise but a bit too much filling ?? tried the maple pecan and lemon meringue - could use all that filling for another plain donut ?
Coffee was good and strong but not filled to the top - pricey for the portion :/

The employees were professional, and the cafe was clean and tidy. For someone used to Krispy Kreme or your classic bakery, though, the donuts were not for me. While I must admit the Boston creme was baked fresh and was oddly fluffy like biting into a small pillow, yet the sweet custard filling was overpowered by the bitter dark chocolate frosting. I also made the mistake of ordering a milk chocolate donut thinking I was getting a sweet treat, but again, the sea salt made it taste like it had been dropped in the ocean and then fished out. They had some really interesting looking donuts very artfully put together, but I didn't dare to try more.
Parking: There is a school right next door, so half the street is passenger loading or truck loading zones, and the other side was packed. I drove around the block and found a spot on the western side of the block.

I was not a donut person until I tried this place!! I got the strawberry and cream donut ? ?and I was surprised it tasted not just like regular whipped cream, but delicious cream cheese ?! Which goes well with the strawberry. It’s filling like a piece of strawberry cheesecake and not too sweet. The interior is also very cute and clean! (Sorry my photos didn’t do it justice). One star off because it’s more expensive than other places, but definitely a nice treat to myself and people I love ❤️

Staff is absolutely lovely and the raspberry pistachio donut was incredible :) definitely will be going again!
I witnessed the most shockingly disgusting thing here recently-- a woman who was minding her own business sitting on an outside table got peed on by a dog who lives on the patio above, which is a metal grate directly above the tables (I was sitting at a nearby table and saw the dogs on the patio). After explaining the situation to the staff inside, she was NOT helped by them. After cleaning her laptop and dress as best she could with some tiny napkins, the woman left. After she left, I heard the staff laughing about the situation, which is so incredibly rude and unempathetic.
When I left about 20 minutes later, the table was not yet cleaned by staff: it was still dripping with about 2 cups of yellow dog piss. See picture.
Update: They moved the tables away from the balcony, but guests still use the door that is within the splash zone.

I'm not one to write reviews, but this place was special: top tier service and perfect pastries. Their donuts aren't in the same class as some places, but the quality, flavor, and style justify the price without a doubt.

Aesthetically cute, but if you're craving a donut, I wouldn't actually describe what they make as "donuts". They taste more like crust-less SF sourdough bread, chewy and "wet" (high moisture dough) like the kind you'd get at Tartine, but then covered in glaze. They have no outer crisp like a donut, and don't have the texture of donuts, so they kind of just taste wrong to my palette.
The regular glazed just highlights the gummy, chewy texture of the "bread" and really isn't pleasant to eat bread-innard-texture with sugar glaze and no crisp or crunch. 1 out of 5 stars
The boston cream has a very bitter, almost not sweet at all, thick chocolate layer on top but not enough cream inside to give it enough sweetness to create balance, even to me who loves dark chocolate. Again, the bread-innard texture is not nice with these flavors. 2 out of 5 stars
Lastly, the lemon meringue donut was actually nice, because it tastes more on the whole like just some sort of dessert or pastry. Again, this isn't a donut, but the lemon curd and meringue were really nicely made and there was a good balance of sweet and acid. The chewy bread was still there, but more in the background because the filling and topping were so nice. 3 out of 5 stars
The employee recommended the strawberries and cream flavor which we didn't try, but since the "donut" is so bready, I can see that flavors that lean more towards spreads you'd put on bread might taste nicer.
Overall, if you want to try sweet gummy bread with holes cut of it, this place might be for you, but if you want donuts, go elsewhere.
I tell everyone I meet about this place. The texture of the donuts is impeccable. Light, just the right amount of chew, not greasy at all. The flavors are fantastic. I only wish it wasn’t so far away from me.

I mean.. $10 for a small coffee and a donut?? I think I was in a bit of a shock, I couldn't say no and paid for it. It all would've been somewhat tolerable if any of them were any good. The chocolate on top of my donut was good ish, but the donut itself.. it was dense and chewy.. I mean.. I like my pizza chewy, but not my donut. Isn't the whole point of a donut that it is fluffy and soft?..? Am i wrong?.. The coffee wasn't even a little bit better than the ones at 7/11 or gas stations given the price.

Magic Donuts delivers a delightful experience with their sourdough donuts.
Freshly baked each day, these donuts have a perfect balance of sweetness that makes every bite enjoyable.
The texture is wonderfully light yet satisfying, making it hard to stop at just one.
Highly recommended for any donut lover!
