The place is overrated. It was very disappointing. The food is below average for the prices they are charging. One of the worst stakes I have ever had in my life.
We brought some friends before the theater. Service ensured that we left in time for the performance. The food was so impressive that our friends will return. Good time had by all...
Too little salmon for the price. I realized walking in there was a clear vibe because I brought my kids and we left soon after ordering food to go which is too bad because this place is really close to our house
Mid food and mid service. Had higher expectations for this place to only be let down. Food was all so greasy
The food was terrible. The server was not knowledgeable of any items on the menu. The serving staff was good. Ensured plates were cleared and water was filled. Replace your serving staff with this staff. The dishes we received not jsut ok they were disgusting will not come back
Overall really liked it, but they really need a new dessert chef. All our desserts were flavorless and unimpressive.
It's a great hamburger (which is the only thing I order) when it's done correctly, but not this visit. The first hamburger arrived a bit too raw. The second one was past medium. It's a hamburger - no one died. 🙂 Unfortunately, it was a warm evening in San Francisco. I was there for an hour and I was exhausted after the meal - the restaurant was hot and, as always, loud. Service started great and then, fell by the wayside - took for ever to get the check.
Went for dinner last night. Have been to Marlowe many times both recently and over time. The food was exceedingly over seasoned with either too much salt, spices and in the case of the crudo, a sauce that effectively masks all manner of delicacy and freshness hamachi and tuna demand - what are they hiding? The Cesar salad dressing was so garlicky that I can still taste nearly 24 hours later, I am not exaggerating. The kitchen needs a seasoning reset.
Early dinner before Giants game, small bites, drinks, etc. we sat near the door, pot smoke permeated the air. Food was pretty good small portions for the price, good service.
First time diners. It was maybe 1/4 capacity and still very loud. I had to use earplugs. Despite the loudness, we really enjoyed the food. I recommend this restaurant and I recommend wearing earplugs.

We've been to Marlowe many times and enjoy it every time. Everything is consistently very good, even excellent, but somehow just misses being "outstanding" as OT labels their top rating. Go to Marlowe and enjoy it. Squash blossoms are excellent, albeit only two, the salmon is cooked well and accompanied beautifully with English Peas and green beans, and if you feel like a burger, theirs is, indeed, very good, and comes with quite a pour of Bordeaux if you get the "burger and bordeaux" special. Cocktails are well made and the French 75 approaches Absinthe, which is high praise, and the bone marrow, while not up to Movida's, is also quite good. All in all, I'd recommend Marlowe.
Loved returning to one of my favorite restaurants. It was however, incredibly loud and difficult to hear across the table.
I've had great experiences at Marlowe in the past, but this time it was merely “pretty good.” One thing that detracted was my starting cocktail took a long time — probably over 15 minutes from when I sat down. Much of that time was after I ordered the drink. The delay was awkward because it was a business dinner and my colleagues wanted to toast. While the waiter blamed a backup at the bar, the restaurant wasn't completely full... To be fair, the cocktail was excellent and the waiter subsequently checked in with me a ton of times about whether I wanted a second drink. The food was good but not amazing; salmon dish was bland (it had enough salt but could have used something like fresh herbs to add interest). The other issue: omg the noise level at our table was terrible! Sounds reverberating around, not recommended for people who are sensitive to noise! Maybe it's just tables in the middle of the room. In conclusion, I'd go back if someone else really wanted to — requesting a table on the perimeter — but Marlowe is knocked off my favorites list. (Also to note: nearby street parking was $12/hour)
Service was great. Drinks and food were great. Close to the ball park, perfect place for a quick place to eat prior to a game.
Multiple waiters came to us asking the same questions, seems like they need to get their front of house in order. Lamb was fatty so not much meat to eat. But with those issues, I would try it again, I like the vibe and food choices.
