The rudest waitress I have ever encountered.Came here this weekend for a friends birthday and we sat down at a table. We were short one chair so my partner innocently got an empty chair from another table. The elderly brunette waitress was immediately rude and shouted at him saying “don’t touch the chairs in my bar”. From that first interaction I could tell she had no manners but we moved on and proceeded to order our drinks. We had numerous people from the UK and France in our group so when we showed our British driving license we were told that they didn’t accept that as a valid form of identification - which is ridiculous considering in nearly 6 months of being here this has never happened. We questioned it because it makes no sense that I can legally drive and that be accepted as ID but I need my passport to buy a drink? It is ridiculous to expect someone to carry around such a valuable document and risk having it lost or stolen. However, I understand if that’s their policy it’s not up to the bar staff to change it, even if it is a ridiculous rule. This same woman again was incredibly rude in her delivery. We are reasonable people and if she simply said “sorry it’s our policy and out of my hands” then there would’ve been no issue. This waitress, or should I say, the chair police, decides to berate one of our party members for having the audacity to let his shoe lightly graze the edge of a chair. She went on a tirade about how filthy his shoes were. It was incredibly rude and unnecessary - again a simple “excuse me would you mind moving your foot” would have sufficed. I don’t know if she was a manager from hell or just a member of staff with a power trip who’s insanely possessive over chairs but she was beyond unpleasant. Her negative energy was suffocating, and I genuinely feel sorry for anyone who has to work with her.Fortunately we were able to walk to another bar and be served by people who actually are capable of speaking respectfully and do their job. Needless to say, we won't be setting foot in this establishment ever again. Hopefully she retires or is fired soon so that no one else has the displeasure of an encounter with her. Save yourself the trouble and steer clear of this miserable woman.

Very delicious drinks of very good quality and very good service, everyone super friendly, great atmosphere, the only thing is that they have nothing to snack on. I think they should at least have peanuts.

One of my fave spots in the city to listen to people sing while having the perfect martinis. Perfect for a date night or a night out with friends who love and appreciate good music and warm people.

Wow - why did it so long for me to check this place out. Starting to slowly come back to the City for evening events so we went here after a great dinner at Zuni cafe. The vibes and drinks are cool - not a club club, not a loud bar, but something in between. We drove from Redwood City and it's totally worth it. So much talented crowd singing opera, rock, Taylor Swift, 50's.

I had the BEST martini here! I’m not a martini girl but my standards for martinis have changed !!

I've been meaning to come here, like, forever. A classic piano bar is frankly hard to come by in this city. Long gone are the days when Doris Day and Rock Hudson could drop by after fantasizing about each other in an open convertible on Riverside Drive. They would come to a place like this after midnight and sing along with the piano chanteuse on "Ya Ya Roly Poly". The interior here consists first of the darkened bar illuminated by lavender lighting under the ice-filled martini glasses. The bigger back room is the nightclub with the pianist playing mellifluously on one side. One by one, people came up the mic and started singing their selections. These were not tone-deaf karaoke drunks. Not by a long shot. They sounded like professional singers auditioning for the next Sondheim revival at the Curran. My hopes of singing all the parts to "Sweeney Todd" to a live audience were dashed. I drowned my sorrows in a luscious $15.50 Espresso Martini well chilled (photo: I couldn't get a seat in the nightclub, so I stayed in the darkness of the bar with dreams of Broadway stardom up in smoke. COCKTAILS - 4 stars...a smooth espresso martini good enough for Doris and Rock AMBIANCE - 4.5 stars...very cosmopolitan space with an appropriately urbane nightclub SERVICE - 4 stars...adroit barmen TOTAL - 4 stars...a classic piano bar is always worth a visit RELATED - Exploring Hayes Valley? This is a classic Old San Francisco bar. Its kind of a gay bar but not really. It’s popular with drag queens and a great place to visit on Saturday evening. The martinis are, as expected, great.

Good help is hard to find I have been a repeat patron of Martunis xor years. Joe Wicht and Katya Smirnoff Skyy are long time.colleaguea. I was sitting in the paino bar having a quiwt.celwbration of surviving Covid, having been clinically dead, a year before shutdown, twice of the dates thia week. Your manager saw fit to tell me I am not welcome at your bar. There are a thousand other choices in SF. Please give my email to Joe Wicht. I haven't aeen him since Bill, his husband and I, had a great conversation of how relationships evolve at their wedding. This relationship doesn't srand a snow ball's chance in hell of continuing.
