Love this place! Wife and I are staying at the Grand Hyatt for 2 weeks while she recovers from surgery. She’s on a soft-food low-sodium diet, so rice, fish, and avocado is perfect. Came here for lunch and ate 2 maki, 2 nigiri, gyoza, and rice. Good prices and super fresh sushi.

Decent looking place, but way too expensive for the small cuts they serve. Nothing special. They should serve house salads to keep the customers occupied while waiting for their order. There are better options around. I won't be going back. Servers were apologetic rather than proud, although I didn't complain.

One of the best sushi places at Union Square with delicious sushi options at relatively affordable prices. I don't miss tje opportunity to treat myself at Maru everytime I'm in SF.

Honestly the food was not that good. The fish wasn’t fresh, the rolls had little meat and a lot of rice, the service was okay. Not worth the price for the quality you get.

Way overpriced! Food came out cold, like noticeably cold. It had a good taste but not what it was priced at. The server was very nice. Place looked nice.

Came here intending to have a quick lunch the other day, but unfortunately received quite poor service. It took a while to get the attention of a waiter to let us order, and while we were ordering our waiter seemed confused with what we wanted and we weren't sure she had heard it all. We ordered a few rolls, a curry, and a ramen, and waited about 20 minutes before inquiring as to the progress of our meal. We asked three separate wait staff who said they would check, until one of them realised our order had not actually been put through. We had a flight to catch that afternoon so it was quite a stressful experience. Finally the waiter came over and explained the situation to us and said the food would be out in 5 minutes. The food did come then which was good, and we were offered complimentary dessert as an apology. The food itself was pretty good, I wish they marked their vegan options though because I had to just guess. I got the Kawaii roll and the Popeye roll, which both tasted good.Overall a good meal, just wish we could have had a better experience with the service.Vegetarian options: There is a section for vegetarian rolls, however these aren't explicitly marked. No marking for what is vegan but I am pretty sure Kawaii and Popeye are.

Nice place with some inventive rolls and fresh fish. Daily specials were better and more interesting than some of the standards. Sushi rice was a bit cold. Staff was very friendly and attentive. Romeo and Juliet roll was excellent. So was Hamachi carpaccio.

This place was delish! We just happen to be walking by and decided to stop. So glad we did! The staff were great and the food was amazing. Not a place to be in a hurry but when your enjoying good food why be in a hurry!!!! Love it!!!

Food was not bad. I had a Powel roll but was a little too dry. Service is really slow and careless. I was the only client, and yet I was abandoned.

As we walked into the place, it had a musty smell and it was moist like a sauna. The waitress kept asking for how of us are sitting and we said 2 but they kept asking us like 6 times before seating us. As we sat the tables were a little sticky and so was the seat. Kamikaze - 3/5 -it was ok. nothing special, the fish wasn't as fresh and the roll was a bit bland Spicy Tuna Roll - 3/5-again, it wasn't special. the roll wasn't presented the prettiest and there was to much sesame in the roll itself There was soy sauce on the table which says low sodium but it was not. The soy sauce itself was so salty and when i dipped my sushi in the whole piece tasted like i dipped it in salt. It felt like they added more salt into the bottle. I also asked for eel sauce and they gave me warm unagi sauce and it was also so so salty. As we were leaving we asked for the check about 3 times before they handed it to us, but they added another item we did not even order. We pointed out the mistake and they went back to fix it but they didn't even give us the check. We waited an additional 15 minutes and had to ask them 3 times for the check. Overall this restaurant was not good in terms of food and service. Will not be coming back!!

Decent food, worst service. Basically no service at all. We came on Sunday evening as a big party of 9 - 4 adults and 5 little kids. It was busy, however, the waiters were nowhere to be seen. Had to approach stuff multiple times during the evening - to be sited, to please take our order, then after 30 minutes of waiting to at least bring us some water, to bring us chopsticks (or anything) for our food… We were all hungry, especially kids and it felt like they forgot about us. We’ve never experienced such a bad service - there was no service at all. The portions were tiny, we ate everything in 10 minutes and left. It was the first time in my life when I didn’t leave a tip (oh and the bill was all messed up, too, they had to correct it TWICE…) This place urgently needs more staff.

I enjoy lunch here weekly. Most of the staff are kind and courteous, and the food is consistently good.Today's experience involved a mis-understanding which left everyone unhappy. I asked for their best fresh roll and the server pointed to several cooked rolls and we spoke of one before realizing these were not the fresh ones. I quickly picked a fresh roll and some sides.I was surprised to receive two rolls rather than one, and tried to explain that it was a misunderstanding - I only ever asked about a fresh roll. The server became angry and defensive and charged me for the roll which I did not touch. In the end we should have been able to communicate better and resolve this issue with a frequent customer better. I'm unhappy and now she is too. Not sure I will find myself there again if I see her on the floor.

Perfect spot. Relaxing environment, helpful staff and very fresh fish. Great spot for lunch. Will come again when we're back in the city!
